Default Palin: Won't close door on White House run

Quote:
"I think that it would be absurd to not consider what it is that I can potentially do to help our country," Palin told Fox News Sunday. "I won't close the door that perhaps could be open for me in the future."

The Republican former Alaska governor, who was John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election, said she thought Democratic President Barack Obama would be vulnerable in a re-election fight in 2-1/2 years if he continues to pursue his current agenda.
Quote:
Palin rallied conservatives on Saturday night at the Nashville, Tennessee convention of the national "tea party" movement. The 'tea party' group hopes to have an impact on the November congressional races in which Democrats, who hold a majority in both houses of Congress, are at risk of seeing an erosion of their dominance.

In her speech, Palin hammered Obama on the rising U.S. debt and on national security issues.
Quote:
Palin was recently hired by Fox News as a commentator. She has assembled a group of advisers — some of whom are former aides to the McCain campaign — who email her briefings each morning on domestic and foreign policy issues.
Good news if you want to keep a Democrat in the whitehouse. Not so good if you want a serious contender for the Presidency.

It's not good or bad news.
Not sure it's even news at all.
At least she's being honest.
She's saying I might run at some point.
She doesn't want to be like the folks who say things like: no, I'm not interested (even though they're all gooey inside just thinking about it) or, saying something like: no, I won't be running for president; I just got elected to the senate & I would have to start running now to be a serious contender for the white house.

I am not questioning her honesty.
I am saying this is bad for the GOP. Cause she's very popular among hard core conservatives. And there goes the 2012 election if she gets the nomination or if another candidate is pressured (by core numbers) to choose her as Veep.
I for one want to stop the sillyiness and have two serious contenders for the Presidency.
This leaves me having no choice again but voting for a very liberal (this time maybe even entreanched) Democrat.

You're making a pretty big assumption here.
While I like her & think she'd be better than what we currently have just based on what she did in an executive position before.
Although, I was very disappointed that she quit her governorship before her term was up.
I believe that was a very bad move --- I think it really hurts her chances.
She could have left the governorship after completing her term showing her successful executive experience.
She could possibly contend at some point --- I just don't think 2012 will be that time.
Although, I could be wrong. (shocking, I know --- me wrong...absurd isn't it?)

If Palin runs, then I will have to go back on my word and vote for a Democrat again, even when I swore that was not voting anymore. I hate politics! All I seem to do is vote against people that I can't stand.

And this is my point exactly as I feel there are a lot of people who would be in a similar position.
So thank you for posting this.

1.) If you think that was being honest after what she pulled in Alaska, I feel sorry for you......

2.) What.....? That's exactly what she was saying without saying it.......

Reading between the political lines in American politics is where the rubber meets the road. Being able to see those tracks is what seperates educated political electorate from the general voting public during election cycles........

One can learn alot in the space of 3 years. I think this indicates her willingness and enthusiasm to learn. I'm all for Palin in 2012! Woohoo!

while there's this place to hack on Palin I thought I'd share this article from The Nation.
No suprise they don't like her.

They found this extreme...
Quote:
In his 1960 manifesto The Conscience of a Conservative, Goldwater wrote, "I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution or that have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden."
Welcome to Palinland

Oh how I wish Goldwater had won in '64.
I've already scolded my parents for voting for Johnson.
