So I kind of agree with the district on removing her.
We do know that a lot of teachers don't keep their beliefs to themselves when they are teaching in the class room. Like that teacher who thought it was a good idea to have students send letters to their elected officials to **** on the 2nd amendment. Or some of those schools having students sing pro-Obama songs.

I used to believe the same way. However, after serving on our local Board of Education, I found that is not really true. Teachers are held to a little higher standard than most people outside of the school system. They are to carry themselves in public in a way that does not bring disgrace or impugn their reputation in the classroom.
For example. My wife and I were friends with one of the principles in our school system. We would get together at each others houses prior to me being on the BOE. When we went to his house, I would take a 12 pack of his favorite beer or he would bring my favorite when he came my way. But if my kids were around, he would not drink bear and instead have a soda. He said that if he were to partake in drinking in front of my school age kids, it would ruin his reputation in the school. I didn't quite understand until I was on the School Board and we had an instance where a teacher got into an alcohol related incident outside of the school. It could have affected that teachers career had it been worse.
The point is that when a teacher puts themselves into a compromising position, it does affect their abilities in the classroom.
