https://www.google.com/search?q=teac...hrome&ie=UTF-8 I know nothing of the AEI. Picked that link due to it being near the top of the list and having comparative figures. The figures seem pretty much in line with other sources. Other sources including HuffPo. I'm guessing you won't be in the mood. |

One would think with all the promises made by political candidates, this would change. We spend more per student than any other nation in the world. And while there are exceptional students coming out of exceptional public schools, there are some in which the word "Deplorable" would be an upgrade. In truth every kid should have the right, and the ability, to go to whatever public school his parents could afford in time and money. Our kids, all of them, deserve and even chance. That will not come by an efficient school funding system but and effective one. And if your child's school is deplorable, that school should be motivated to improve or lose the income provided by your child's attendance. Whether you believe private schools are a good alternative or not, for most inner city kids, there is absolutely no good choices. Why not change that? It works in the supermarket, the auto industry, even appliances. Make crap and the customer goes elsewhere. Or we can go Soviet style and make kids devour the crappy sausage because that is what the state says is "adequate."

Being opposed to governmental "school vouchers" is not the same thing as being opposed to private schools. Way to look at an apple and declare "BUT ORANGE!" ![]()

![]() I'm opposed to paying property taxes to public schools when I don't have any kids going to school. But that's a different story.
