Colorado boy, 7, reportedly faces suspension for tossing imaginary grenade

Alex Watkins,7, who attends Mary Blair Elementary in Loveland, said he was playing the game "Rescue the World." He plays the role of a heroic soldier out to rid the world of an evil threat.

His duties led him to throw the imaginary grenade into a box he pretended contained evil forces. He said he didn't make any threats and was playing by himself, KDVR.com reported.

The school has a list of 'absolutes' that states no weapons, even if they're imaginary. A phone call Tuesday morning from FoxNews.com to the school was not immediately returned.

"Honestly, I don’t think the rule is very realistic for kids this age," Mandie Watkins, Alex's mom, told KDVR.com. "I think that when a child is trying to save the world, I don't think he should be punished for it."

Alex, for his part, told the station that he can’t believe he got "dispended."

Across the country this **** is going on. Kids playing games and the supposed educated among us are going nuts. I am convinced that teachers today have lost their minds and should be no where near children.

Give the kid an imaginary suspension. And send the school administrators to a real war zone so they can get a grip on reality.

How soon teachers and administrations forget that "imagination is greater than knowledge"- Albert Einstein. This is especially true in a child that wants to do something good like using his or her imagination to save the world! I've never cared for the (Thought Police),we have too many real issues to deal with without squandering valuable time by confusing our students with a no good deed goes unpunished attitude..

Seriously, I don't know why people worry that the classrooms that their small children are required to attend by the State can ever be used to advance dangerous, goofy or destructive sociopolitical agendas, advanced by duly elected heads of government.

I guess they would have put me and all my cousins and my brother in jail and thrown away the key.
