Default Students suspended for a year in New York bus monitor bullying

Quote:
Four seventh-grade boys from upstate New York who were caught on video mercilessly taunting a 68-year-old bus monitor have received their punishment.

The school system in the Rochester suburb of Greece says it will suspend the middle school students from school and from using regular bus transportation for a year for bullying Karen Klein.

The students will be transferred to a special alternative education program because the district is legally required to give the students an education. Each student will also be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens.

They will be able to reapply to middle school after their complete the discipline.

In a statement, the school system said each of the students involved admitted to wrongdoing, accepted the consequences and agreed to let the district publically release the terms of their disciplinary action.

I still have to wonder about the parents of these four little angels. I would almost bet that these parents were madder that their angels got caught and punished for then what they did.

Good for the school. Perhaps being forced to attend another school away from their friends and banned from the bus for a year will send a message to these kids that this sort of behavior is unacceptable. Hopefully the parents will dish out their own brand of punishment as well. I know I would if one of those students was my child.

I honestly do not know what is worse, the kids' behavior or those that are defending them and attacking the bus monitor. Both are sick and disturbed individuals.

This country has certainly passed me by. Back in my day there would not be an adult in the country that would defend these brats and blame the bus monitor for what happened.

Please link to a post where someone- anyone- "defended" the bullies, because I must have missed it.
Misbehavior on the school bus is a given; if it weren't, the district would not go to the trouble and expense of employing an adult monitor.
A monitor who is neither capable of stopping the misbehavior and protecting the innocent children aboard the bus nor willing to report the situation to her superiors and step down from her position endangers the safety of children by her inability to perform her duties and her unwillingness to relinquish her post.
With the million dollars which has been donated to her, she can now continue to get paid for being absolutely useless, but she can do it without endangering any children, so thank you, everyone who donated. Now that Karen Klein out of the way, the school district can hire a competent bus monitor who will actually do his or her job and keep the children safe.

Throw the cretins out into the street so they can get their required education there. No more schools for those retard monkeys.

Let's hear it from the peanut gallery if they think those are just kids being kids, and they deserve a chance.

Better yet, take those four bad asses, place them in the middle of the Sahara desert, have them each eat a bag of potato chips, and tell them to get to the nearest available water 20 miles away. They get to choose out of four choices what direction to head to.

Good.

Though a year is a bit long. It'll likely punish the parents more than the kids. But they certainly should not be allowed to ride the bus regardless.

(bold italics above are mine)

Im pretty sure the parents had plenty of time to extricate their craniums from their rectums and start teaching their darlings how to act like decent human beings.

The way kids act in a group of their peers has more to do with their innate personality structure (which they're born with) than it does with their upbringing.
The parents are responsible only in that they provided the genetic material.

Many kids growing up in vile surroundings are perfectly decent (not successful or accomplished, perhaps, but personally decent, as in they would not hurt someone weak and helpless for the fun of it).

Many kids growing up in privileged environs with doting parents lack any sense of basic human compassion.

Parents don't teach these things. And they aren't responsible for what their children do when they aren't there to stop them.
The law requires that parents turn over their children for eight hours per day to the guardianship of school personnel, and other low-level school employees such as Ms. Klein.
The person responsible for controlling the behavior of those boys at the time of the incident was not in fact their parents, but Ms. Klein herself.
It was her job to maintain order and discipline on that bus so that the children would be safe and so that the driver could safely do his or her job, which is driving, not monitoring.
She was not one of the children's peers. She was intended to be- paid to be- an authority figure.
She failed miserably, yet had no intention of letting anyone know about the dangerous conditions on that bus and her inability to get control of the situation.

I think that they should have been caned, sent to a labor camp for the summer and then forced to attend school and not promoted until they could get a 4.0 GPA, if that took them until they turned 18.
