Default The price of gasoline

The price of regular-grade gasoline, where I ordinarily purchase it, is $2.839 per gallon. And I would imagine that others here--from different parts of the country--can report even lower prices. (Here in Tennessee, we have no state income tax; so our gasoline tax has to be significant--more so than in states with an income tax.)

So when I hear of five-dollar-per-gallon gasoline in California, my head almost bursts.

Not sure it's a function of taxes as much as it's a result of supply shortages brought on by Kim Jung Biden’s war on fossil fuels. It's a buck a gallon more in AZ but most of our gas is imported from the People's Republic of California. California has extreme restrictions on supply sourcing so they lead the nation in gas prices.

Here in southern Nevada the lowest price is at Sams Club and Costco, about 3.49 per gallon, top tier gas is 4.00 per gal regular

Just within the past 24 hours, the price of gasoline here--where I ordinarily purchase it--has plummeted by 10 cents per gallon. It is now $2.739.

Today, the two BP stations nearby are actually lower than Murphy Express (where I ordinarily get my gasoline)--by five cents per gallon. (They now advertise regular for $2.749.)

Just what to attribute this sudden price drop to, I really do not know. (It is a bit too late to attribute it to the end of summer driving.)

Still, I will not look a gift horse in the mouth, as the old saying goes...

Those higher prices (in parts of the country) can be blamed in part upon some of the policies of the Biden administration--including a decision not to drill for oil on federal lands (e.g. ANWR); but the increase in driving, coming out of the Covid "pandemic," also plays a role here.

In short, it is really not one or the other; but both.

I know you won't believe me but the time span is wrong for that to be the case. These companies don't do knee jerk unless there's a war or something.
And the prices on everything are set to come down as the economies around the world get back from covid. the best thing we can do to lower prices is truly to get vaccinated.

You seem obsessed with "get[ting] vaccinated"--even in a thread about high gasoline prices, in much of the country.

In any case, I am willing to admit that not all of the blame for higher gasoline prices should fall on the shoulders of President Biden; yet you seem unwilling to face the fact that some of it is his fault (as I have noted in a previous post).

This seems more doctrinaire than it is purely analytical.
