Default A Shocking New Look at the 2008 Housing Crisis | Amanpour and Company

Remember the bad old days of the great recession?

Aaron Glantz’s award-winning investigative journalism has sparked over a dozen congressional hearings and criminal probes. His latest book, “Homewreckers,” takes a shocking new look at America’s 2008 housing crisis. It’s a tale of greed and corruption, as Glantz pulls back the curtain on a group of Wall Street magnates who he says took advantage of a rigged system. Moreover, as Glantz tells Hari Sreenivasan, these “homewreckers” include key members of President Trump’s inner circle.
Also mentioned is George Soros.

She's probably trying to get Al-Qaeda's network and has to settle for Christiane Amanpour.

Biden's out touting how he saved US from the next Great Depression with the massive pork barrel spending stimulus. But to burnish the failed program it's necessary to stoke the fears by recounting how terrible things were and more importantly who is to blame, rich people like you know who in the WH.

Never mind that the wave of housing speculation was set off by Clinton administration meddling in the home mortgage market based on phony "red lining" discrimination. Ignore that our vaunted regulatory apparatus utterly failed to do even the simplest measure to cool an overheated market, it's all greedy Wall Street types. Villians that only the decrepit husk of Joe Biden can save us from.

Like FDR did with WPA money Obama used a good chunk of Stimulus funds to purchase political loyalty by pumping up state payrolls. Yesterday in his fake press conference Biden bragged about this open corruption as saving state's critical services during the recession. Naturally he failed to mention none of this spending went directly to helping the taxpayers enslaved to pay for his partisan generosity.

The most common expense for the Obama/Biden Stimulus money was the number of billboards touting the projects.

Most common but certainly not the largest. It's amazing how Biden claimed he saved US from going into an economic depression by helping the middle class when Obama joked about the Stimulus failure to create jobs. "Shovel ready jobs weren't so shovel ready" he quipped to his ineffectual President's jobs council. Yet Biden's spin doctors and media toadies refuse to challenge his story.

No mention of Bill Clinton, the repealing of Glass-Steagall, the exemption of credit default swaps from regulation, no mention of Obama buddy Franklin Raines, no mention of Barney Frank . . .

Go stick your BS revisionist history where the sun doesn't shine.

The housing crisis took place under Obama. Enough said.

The genesis of it was during Clinton, the "sub-prime" programs were devised and conducted at the direction of the Clinton administration . . .
Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending

NY Times
Sept. 30, 1999

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

Say what you want about Bill O'Reilly but he took Barney Frank (Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee) to the woodshed about Fannie and Freddie after Frank said over and over they were perfectly fine and was criticizing anyone questioning their solvency. . . Then claiming to be the only one that saw the crisis coming and that nobody would listen to his warnings.

A true scoundrel . . . and a Democrat, so I repeat myself.

It is episodes like that that got dems to make up allegations against O'Reilly to get him off the air.
