Mom burned her bra and went to work in the sixties. However, instead of enriching the family it enriched the government.
the top teir in the 50's paid 91% tax starting at around 400,00 which was a lot then

mom wanted equal wages when she went to work; instead the wages were lowered for men with a few exceptions

There was never a time during either one of those presidents when the US wasn't on the gold standard. The US went off the gold standard during the Nixon admin.

"the costs of housing, education, health care"

Three of the Fed Gov's favorite sectors to fingerfuq. As such these sectors' supply demand curves have been distorted to the point that their respective inflation rates have doubled and sometimes tripled the general inflation rate.

The Liberal's answer; more government.

you're probably not 25-30 with one child and a spouse looking to invest in a starter home.
in fact there really are no starter homes.
just weird
No, wages have not gone down. Inflation, escalated by QE during the past administration, may have reduced the purchasing power of the increasing wages, but anyone whose wages have actually gone down (theirs, not anyone else's) may have to look to themselves for the reason.

You're right, I'm well beyond 25-30, no children, but I do have a spouse and two cats to feed, house and clothe.

Define what you call a 'starter home', cause there are plenty around here. About $100k, 2 bed one bath, about 1/2 an acre, with sweat equity available.

Again with the Bullsh!t.

Mom went to work. At any wage, her efforts to be "more than just a housewife" were spoiled by the increase costs of child care, Travel, insurance costs and increases on income taxes and state and local sales taxes.

But, in exchange, she was her own" man." Not just a simple housewife. (which ain't, by any definition, simple).

Am I the only one who noticed steady increases on the fees and taxes of retail sales? School districts, police districts, Fire Districts all increased their tax percentage rates. Not that their revenues were on the rise. As real estate values (Upon which most such rates are based) and the Cost of goods and services rose, those revenues would have increased as well. No they asked for MORE out of everyone's paycheck.

By the turn of the century, Mom's addition to the family treasury was wiped out. Worse, she could not quit working because most families cannot exist on one salary, after taxes. ALL TAXES.

It took the liberals one stroke of genius, The Devaluation of Motherhood, and about 30 years of relentless propaganda, to create a complete reversal of our small government serving the people to a large one the people now serve.

but in real buying terms wages have lowered since the 70s

She got equal pay. Her and her husband in the family unit got the same pay. One pay check. Once she went to work, they got two pay checks. The Gubmit got more.

And the children got less. A lot less. And this despite mom was now working at TWO occupations, doing neither a 100 percent.

The family suffered. To suggest otherwise is to ignore reality.

BTW; I believe God had different plans so please, keep Him out of it.
