Default In Shocker, Deficit Explodes Yet Again Under Republican Rule

The Treasury Department is going to be borrowing a lot of money this quarter:

No worries. At least the rich are getting richer and schoolteachers are getting an extra $1.50 per week:

Reagan, Bush Sr., Bush Jr., Trump; its almost as if Republicans have been total bullsh-tters when it comes to fiscal conservatism for the last 30 years.

At least Democrats TAX and spend. GOPers complain about spending and the deficit, then when they get into power they outspend the tax-and-spenders and then cut revenues to where even economic growth doesnt make up for the budget gap they created.

Anybody besides me see a slight flaw in the Mother Jones chart? Or two?

First quarter '18 is not yet a third over. And: Republican's tax cut begins Jan 2018, with most of the cuts occurring much later.

So called tax cut results will not be noted until Apr 15, 2019.

There ya go agin' Pointing out the truth instead of being "honestly" gullible.

BTW, Deficits do not drop because of higher taxes on the rich. They drop when we stop spending money we don't have coming in to the Treasury.

When the revenues improve, Congress will try to spend it. They must resist. That will take a kind of leadership we have not seen in DC for decades.

goddamnit....i just rewrote several replys here trying to figure out how to spin you being wrong but none made any sense. . in the end yah, you are right its misleading. the numbers are not wrong but they cant blame it on the tax cuts yet.

and you'll be happy to know that the estimates for the second quarter are much better. Though, Its my duty as a liberal to wait till then to see if they end up being correct.

During the April June 2018 quarter, Treasury expects to borrow $176 billion in net privately-held marketable debt, assuming an end-of-June cash balance of $360 billion.

Spending cuts? In your dreams. Trump is letting temporary funding for an emergency Ebola task force expire since the Ebola crisis is no more. You guessed it. Liberals are screaming

Wasn't he the same guy who complained about Bush43 saying, raising the debt was "tantamount to Treason?"
