The first casualties of Trump's trade wars are Texas cattle ranchers | Commentary | Dallas News

Even during the campaign, Trump's rhetoric has hurt businesses.

As the only person here who makes their living in Agriculture, the sky is not falling..

The author makes the case of what might be. Not what actually is to this point.

Yes we may have trade disputes. Nothing new, we have had them before. Mexico like it or not, can not just go to the world market and go around us. Neither can China.. There is not enough commodities in the global market out side of the USA to feed them what they want. China has a Ag trade agreement with us they have ignored the rules of for 5 years costing corn farmers here billions of lost revenue. Funny that was never mentioned.

Ag commodities are the grease of that trade balance with both countries. In order to keep the trade deficits within reason, both buy our beef, pork and grains. SO not only do they need them for food, but to also keep the USA happy with the deficit in trade they enjoy with our nation. They NEED THE USA, and OUR COMMODITIES. The author does not mention this at all. There fore this author is uninformed, over his head on this issue. I really wish there were actually MSM reporters who actually knows how this all works in Agriculture and Commodities.

Instead we get the useful idiot, who is along with all of his left wing colleges trying to bash Trump from this angle. To anyone in the business, this is a one sided attempt at that. Feeble at that to...

Regards, Kirk

if you read it you saw that this began before inauguration and continues.
like it or not (and in case you don't know I myself don't), glottalization is here to stay and we are all interconnected and interdependent economically.
I know farmers here in Idaho who are very tuned to world affairs and policies of governments because it affects their bottom line. I used to hold stock that was sunk twice out by war in a foreign country. Crazy, I know but that's just the lay of the land and either trump doesn't know or his intent is to create chaos. And you can claim to yearn for chaos but you really don't.

fyi; this is a dallas paper

I read the entire piece. I stand by what I have said. We will have new trade agreements with both countries in the end, with little disruption in the mean time. The fear of God you on the left have talked yourselves into has warped your prospective of world trade and how it is conducted. We make deals, we change them over time. This is the normal course of humanity at this level.

Goods and services will flow, and new deals will be made. What we do not need is a bunch of leftist undermining our President and our current Government for the world to see. We have much more influence in making trade deals with out the left wing fools telling our trading partners Trump is out to scuttle our nation.. We need a united front of agreement. But out of fear of the failure the left has suffered they and you will foam at the mouth, and undermine out trade deal making abilities.

I understand if Trump is successful the left will be effectively finished with the American people. After 8 years of tyranny of left wing rule, America is very tired of the lefts' attempted destruction of our economy... We are done with that, and about to make America great once again.

economically we have always been better off under Democrats, but you refuse to see that Trump is undoing what little good Obama managed to get passed Republicans and Dems in congress.
A very good and a very smart man just retired from the white house. And your sweet talking boy friend is whispering lies. He will leave you flat like a pregnant teen aged girl. trouble is, me and the rest of the country will have to join you and your buddies at the home for unfortunates.
