A pack of Nobel Prize-winning economists gave Donald Trump and his policy plans the thumbs-down on Friday, with one saying the president-elect’s programs could lead to a deep recession.

particularly critical of Trump’s singling out of individual companies for abuse and praise, saying such interference could end up discouraging newcomers from entering markets and bringing with them much-needed innovation.

America’s interaction with other countries “has to be based on confidence and trust,” Stiglitz said. “That’s being eroded.”

If a recession were to occur, I can just see how that would occur.

Stock market goes up before Trump is sworn in? Give Trump credit!
Recession after Trump takes office? Blame Obama!

When I hear from Joseph Stiglitz, I have the same reaction as to when I hear from Paul Krugman...

...I flush...

Attack the messenger, eh?

From the article:
“There is a broad consensus that the kind of policies that our president-elect has proposed are among the polices that will not work,” said Joseph Stiglitz, summing up the views of the panel that included his fellow Columbia University professor Edmund Phelps and Yale University’s Robert Shiller.
Also, the following which has been repeatedly pointed out but Repubs habitually avoid acknowledging it. Trump's plans for taxes are a sure thing to raise our deficit.
Phelps also voiced concern about Trump’s plans for big tax cuts and spending increases. “Such a policy runs the risk it could lead to an explosion of public debt and ultimately cause a serious loss of confidence and a deep recession,” he said.
And of course this prophetic line in the article:
Such disapproval though is likely to fall on deaf ears.

Yeah, I would go find a right wing site to tell you you picked a winner.

The presumption by J Stiglitiz is that he knows the TRUMPSTER's economic plan. He doesn't. So he is critiquing something he made up.

Hell nobody really does and that prolly includes THE Donald himself.

Don't need a right site, or a left one. Don't need a stinkin' poll. Don't need no LW economists pronouncements. The only thing that matters is the results of an election.

So, check your thinking cap at the door, eh?

So how does what you described work then?
Just give all power to Trump to do as he pleases and nobody should bother to think about whether or not his plans are good or not?

Sometimes I picture people with the attention span of 15 minutes. Thus, they get to make up a new story any time that's convenient.

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/policies/tax-plan
The above site obviously does not even exist for FrancSevin or the two people that thanked him.

After the Kansas tax debacle, I figured (or rather hoped) that some Repubs would come to their senses and stop peddling the mindless "but we need to cut corporate taxes cause the taxes are stopping them from giving us jobs" riff.
Silly me.
Those people that refused the intellectual courage to even try to discuss the issue obviously don't want to be bothered by facts or reality.
