Default Ethical banking- Looking to start a bank comparison wiki with ethical indicators

Would Political Wrinkles be interested in starting some wiki space?

If a consumer wants to make sure their investment goes to a relatively ethical bank, there seems to be no aggregated source out there to give a variety of indicators. I propose starting a wiki page with various categories.

The idea is that consumers are still choosing their banks based on promos, benefits, and some choose almost arbitrarily. Very few are even considering ethics, primarily because folks are too lazy to dig up that kind of information. I think that could be changed to some extent, simply by making the data easily available in a simple comparison chart showing all the major banks as well as some of the interesting small banks.

I would envision a table that compares the banks side by side. One column could show a safe and sound rating, one column to could show political lobbying contributions (like that published by opensecrets.org, which reveals which political party each bank favors more), another column could show good cause charitable donations, a notes column could mention if a bank is particularly socially responsible (e.g. a bank like Triodos focuses on this). And of course we would want to link to the stories disclosing the most vile behaviors, such as this Merrill Lynch story.

That actually sounds good...

But I also see a ton of work involved...If you'd like to provide the details on the banks, tell me what I would need to do to set this up and we'll see if it's doable...

I have no idea how much work it is to install a wiki server, I've never done it. But once the wiki tools are installed, the effort of creating pages and adding data is all on the users. It would be important that anyone be able to directly edit the wiki pages, so that you can rely on the rest of the world to maintain things.
