I was not previously aware that Donald Trump had once opposed the electoral college.

(Presumably, he no longer does; otherwise, Hillary Clinton would now be president.)

If that is, indeed, the case (and I have no good reason to dispute you here), I would agree that it is a bad idea--regardless of who might embrace it.

(Of course, this would require a constitutional amendment--not merely an executive order--or even an act of Congress.)
