lurch: There has been a lot of talk about who Trump is picking/nominating for staff and cabinet positions. But, I think a more important question is who will he nominate for SCOTUS and how many will he be nominating over the next four or eight years?

He did give a list of possibles during the campaign:
1. Keith Blackwell -too young imho
2. Charles Canady- possibility
3. Steven Colloton-possibility
4. Allison Eid- gambling and big mouth if not for those combined woulda been a good candidate
5. Neil Gorsuch-possibility
6. Raymond Gruender- discriminates against women so no
7. Thomas Hardiman- defended white collar criminals, believes in double mandatory sentencing / other notable rulings : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas...otable_rulings a couple are good but the bad ones outweigh them so no
8. Raymond Kethledge- against union, anti-environment so no
9. Joan Larsen- appointed by Rick Snyder, fan of Scalia so no
10. Mike Lee- no
11. Thomas Lee- no
12. Edward Mansfield- doesn't uphold the constitution except as it agrees with his views .no.
13. Federico Moreno- no firebrand but plausible
14. William Pryor- ruled against Florida law. "Scott v. Roberts (11th Cir. 2010). Pryor wrote for a unanimous panel reversing the district court and preliminarily enjoining the enforcement of a Florida law that provided a dollar-for-dollar subsidy to a candidate's opponent once that candidate exceeded a statutory expenditure limit
I can see no legal reason .no
15. Margaret A. Ryan
16. Amul Thapar
17. Timothy Tymkovich
18. David Stras
19. Diane Sykes
20. Don Willett
21. Robert Young
more at some other time. I'm tired of judges just now

I agree, since the best choices aren't on that list: Andrew Napolitano and Jeanine Pirro

Elena Kagan had zero experience as a judge and practically no experience inside a court room. She was a staff lawyer and dean of Harvard law for most of her career. She is a loyal vote for the Left's agenda so that makes her "distinguished"

Cruz has courtroom expeliere from his time as the Texas AG and has participated in presenting cases to the SCOTUS. But wait, he is not distinguished like Kagan.

for my sensibilities and from how I was brought up ted cruz is too silly and too much a useful tool to ever be a judge even in lower courts.

I hope that the left blocks anyone until the next president is elected. Apparently that is A OK

Oh okay, so your unsupported opinion is that Cruz is "silly" and a "tool" so that means he is incapable of the statutory interpretation required of a SCOTUS justice. It is a very queen of hearts approach, all too typical of today's Progressive Democrats.

The next President elected will be Trump, then after that another GNP President. Meanwhile the Congress establishment will continue to lose ground.

Regardless of who Trump nominates, there's very little the Democrats can do to prevent it from happening. Delay a little, maybe. Prevent, not so much.
