So solve THAT problem instead of simply allowing another one to continue. It isn't even hard to do, just pass a Fed. law that states that the States must provide ID cards free of charge to anyone with valid proof of who they are (the same standards used for driver's licences). There you go, that problem can be solved. Instead of only identifying the problems, take the next step and pursue a solution to them.

IMO - This perspective right here epitomizes one of the biggest differences between conservative and liberal. Liberals tend to be great at seeing problems, but terrible at solving them. Conservatives tend to terrible at seeing the problems, but they do see them they are great at solving them. The problem that I see is that we need a whole lot more people solving problems, than we do people pointing them out.

In VA, an id card is $5. I mean, it's really not exactly a hardship.

However, I am in agreement that if the government is going to REQUIRE us to do something in order to exercise our rights, that 'something' should be free or as close to it as possible.

Then, make the requirement that you provide ID when registering and allow people to register at the same time as when they get thier ID and you've got a solution to fill a large hole in our electoral process.

I have no issues with that either. I just think it's rather retarded that voting is only for citizens, but the voters don't need to prove they're citizens. Which mean voting isn't really just for citizens after all and we need to change that

Just using your post to say a few things if you don't mind.

Hi sky dancer, I saw where 200,000 dead voted in 2008, plus other stuff which was connected to acorn.

So there is good reasons to secure our voting system. As I don't trust any without some sort of paper trail from the person voting.

Then we have several states that have different systems and rules.

I think this voting season will turn into a mess. And the country will have to wait
for the results. In Ohio case it might be 10 days.

So as sky dancer is right about some voters in the end we all will be in the dark.
