Actually the DoJ seems to have gotten sloppy for some time now - remember the Ted Stevens case? I don't kow if this is a new trend or I just didn't pay attention to it before but there seem to be a lot of cases that do not have sufficient evidence to come to trial being brought to trial (Edwards being the most recent). At least this one was dismissed but they do have a duty to investigate it - I don't think that is something to complain about.
