Looks like the jailers can strip search people arrested for any reason and however minor. 5-4 decision Kennedy was the tie breaker with those who think that even a nun arrested at an anti war rally can be strip searched. Can't be too careful, can we? And if you protest you deserve to be strip searched anyway.
When will they rule that citizens can be stopped and strip searched randomly? You can never be too careful, right? |

There are many reasons why "arrested persons" are strip searched. It's for the arresting officer's protection and the protection of the inmates who the accused will soon be sharing a cell with.

That was my thought as well.
I wonder if a person who is arrested has any right to refuse a DNA sample. Another thing I kind of expected the state had the right to demand under the circumstances. At the same time, I would hope the government would exercise some prudent judgment on the matter. Not saying they don't...

When are you people going to realize we are becoming Nazi Germany all over again? This is exactly how it happened in Germany. Hitler didn't do what he did overnight. He used the laws that were in place at the time to consolidate power and strip German's of their democracy. What I'm hoping is that American's aren't as stupid as the people in Weimar. But after looking at comments from the right, we just might be! |
