I believe the current split is 3-3; although I could be mistaken about this matter.

Perhaps someone else, who is better informed about it, could clarify...

I find it disturbing that many people have not looked past the immediate issue, and seen what this opens the door to.

If the government can FORCE you (by threat of fine, levy or imprisonment) to purchased something at their demand, what will stop them from doing the same for other products/services?

NOTHING.

They have created the environment they sought.......

Yeah, if they can require you to purchase a private sector product just for the privilege of breathing, that pretty much gives them precedence to require us to do whatever the **** they want. Corporate lobbyists now have even MORE power since now they know they can actually get the govt to require us all to buy their company's products.

Everyone must have xx type of shoes. (they're safer!)
Everyone must own an electric car. (it's for the environment!)

They could even tell you who you have to by a product from.

This slippery slope is too slippery.

Yup...

That's why I throw out this challenge to the Supreme Court...

Quote:
"Previous Supreme Courts have decided that the Commerce Clause has limits on the federal government...

If the Commerce Clause allows the Federal Government to force people to pay for commerce they choose not to have for simply existing, then you need to show us examples of those Commerce Clause limits. If you cannot show us, then your decision to allow Obamacare to continue is telling the country that the Commerce Clause has NO limits and the Federal Government is free to force the public to do anything at their discretion."
