Makes me think there is a secret branch of the govt., doing hits. I have heard or read after the JFK assassination that two Special Forces guys were asked to do the job. One refused because it was in America to other said yes and was never seen again.

But it was so long ago I know we can't find any links today.

Thanks for the input...

Very interesting

Quote:
...CBS news reporter Michelle Clark travelled with Mrs. Hunt, doing
an exclusive story on Watergate. Ms. Clark had already gained
considerable insight into the bugging and coverup through her
boyfriend, a CIA operative. Others knew of this exclusive
interview, including the Justice Department.

According to some media articles, Dorothy Hunt conveyed offers of
executive clemency with the financial payoffs to some of the
Watergate defendants. Mrs. Hunt reportedly also sought to leave
the United States with over two million dollars in cash and
negotiables that she obtained from CREEP (Committee to Re-Elect
the President).

Early in December 1972, Dorothy Hunt and her husband threatened
to blow the lid off the White House if Hunt wasn't freed of the
criminal charges and if they both didn't get several million
dollars. {5}. Hunt claimed, according to McCord, to have evidence
necessary to impeach Nixon. McCord said matters were coming to a
head early in December 1972. Dorothy Hunt was unhappy about
bribing defendants and witnesses, and wanted out of the mess.

The Citizens Committee to Clean Up the Courts reported that over
a hundred FBI agents were inexplicably in the area when the plane
crashed, and that the FBI kept a medical team out of the crash
zone. One member of the medical team said he heard someone in the
crashed plane screaming for help. {6}. Witnesses near the airport
reported that the FBI agents were there before the fire
department arrived. Something highly irregular appeared to be
going on, involving the Department of Justice.

In *Secret Agenda*, author Jim Hougan makes reference to this
intrigue and the request to the FBI by Michael Stevens (who
supplied bugging devices to James McCord, allegedly under
authority of the CIA) for protection. Stevens claimed he was to
receive part of the money Mrs. Hunt was carrying, that his life
had been threatened, and that he believed Mrs. Hunt's death had
been a homicide. ...

I have a weird theory -- probably not true -- What if Dorothy Hunt didn't get on the plane? What if someone else got on the plane instead? "Dorothy" had no social security # and she bought that $250,000 insurance for her husband.

Only Dorothy was either killed somehow off the plane or someone impersonated her. There were survivors, but not anyone who was involved in Watergate, including lawyers and the reporter.

Shortly before the plane crashed into 2 houses, a man sitting in the back of the plane, wearing a laborer's jumpsuit, leaped from the plane. And the FBI were all over the place. One account says there were about 100 FBI agents going through the debris. They arrived there before the fire dept.

The CIA liked to play with lookalikes or having a "sleeper" type of person spring into action to do one thing, and they're never seen again.

E. Howard Hunt remarried.

Weirder things have happened Jig.

But you know I heard or read something a awhile back that I can't put my finger on. But part of it is that there where more people "THEY" wanted to shut down than Mrs Hunt and the reporter on that plane. The only person I can remember right now is Dick Gregory the Black Civil rights activist. He was suppose to be on the plane but didn't get on for some reason. But several other people of some note did. if I find it I'll post it.

I WONDER

Dick Gregory was very controversial at that time. What I didn't like about him: he said on the Mike Douglas show that Jackie Kennedy knew the Assassination was going to happen. And she was dressed flamboyantly in pink so they wouldn't shoot her and that she made secret trips to Dallas.

He turned me right off. But I haven't heard about him in a long time.

I wonder who "They" were. The CIA, Nixon? Of course all those FBI agents swarmed all over the wreckage. It's odd that she was burned but the money that was "on her person" didn't seem to suffer.

Who knows.

I agree with you. Many times in stealth situations, people die and things like planes go awry. It is possible E. Howard Hunt killed her. But I think it's more likely Nixon ordered it. And they had a standby to portray Dorothy Hunt.

They could have gotten to her before she bought the insurance and got her to purchase it and then did away with her. Was she going to get on the plane? Maybe at gunpoint; maybe they threatened the lives of her children. Why the $250,000 in flight insurance -- was she going to die? That's why I think she was abducted and a stand-in bought the insurance, etc. and she never got on the plane. There were some survivors. And there was a man who jumped from the plane in a mechanic's outfit, like he was prepared.

I guess we'll never know what happened on that plane. But it's highly suspicious. Maybe they put her in the witness protection program, but probably not. I understand she never bought flight insurance before. The sum -- $250,000 was exactly what Hunt wanted from Nixon.

Spying and blackmail never accompanies anything good. I think the White House was behind Dorothy Hunt's demise.

I'm sure Nixon turned off the tape machine.. But to be a fly on the wall we would know for sure.

I never liked Nixon, and without honor anything is possible. For far to long the WH has claimed executive privileges which I see as ok to lie, cheat, steal and cause death....

lots of people think it was nixon, i tend to think now that Nixon was pushed around and set up in a lot of ways. the Cia folks around him and his political backers seemed to have put him in no win positions. He may have even fear for his life.

But here's a link to Hunts sons book.
Bond of Secrecy E. Howard Hunt book
you can down load it as a PDF.

he mentions several things that make Nixon look guilty as sin.

30+ FBI agents there within minutes , FBI taking Air controllers tapes, Several high level reappointments to the FAA and another justice position to "oversee" the investigation are the main one if memory serves.
