Re: Scientists Say Ancient Tsunami Hit NY
This whole study is a pure waste. I can guarantee you that if you looked hard enough, you'll find evidence of a major tsunami hitting every coastal location on this planet. It's part of living on the ocean. The Pacific Coast is vulnerable to massive landslides of the continental shelf (there's clear evidence of one off the coast of Oregon), the Atlantic coast is especially vulnerable to the same kind of slides, plus the whole Canary Island problem. We've already seen the impact of underwater quakes on the Indian ocean and even inland seas like the Mediterranean have huge potential of massive underwater slides from silt build-up at the mouths of major rivers. There's isn't a single coastal city on the planet that is immune to tsunamis, so why should the fact that one once hit the East coast change anything?? Every city should have an evacuation plan in place, regardless of it's location or the doom and gloom Jeremiads of money hungry researchers hoping to pull in the big $$$ by publicizing a known threat and making it sound like it's imminent and the only way to handle it is to throw lots and lots of money into researching it.
