![]() Some people are now blaming the recent weather disasters--including, of course, Hurricane Ida--on climate change.
Of course, climate change is a fact. But that begs the question: Is it actually man made (i.e. Anthropogenic Global Warming--or AGW, for short)--or is it merely natural, and cyclical? Interestingly, even those who claim the former (and often vociferously) want only us "little people" to pay the price, for change: Why, we should give up our automobiles; but those who scream the loudest are unwilling to give up their private jets. And, of course, it is only in the US that we--the middle class, that is--are asked to make this enormous sacrifice. China, on the other hand--which has far more people than the US--has labeled itself a "developing country," and has therefore immunized itself against any need for a reciprocal sacrifice. ![]() Exactly what debate would you desire?
And do you find it to be ethically indefensible to take a nuanced view--rather than to stand strongly for one position or the other (well, really not the "other" one)?
