I have been actively reducing the plastic consumption in my household for years. Some things cannot be found in anything other than plastic containers, and even my necessary medical supplies are plastic, wrapped in plastic.

I recycle what I can, but there is no local recycling of anything other than 1 or 2. And some reports say the China has started refusing our plastic waste for recycling.

I don't use 'bottled water', I bring my own filtered water in BPA free plastic bottles, which I've had for around 10 years.

Mandating recycling, taxing it, banning, is not going to stop all the other products that contain plastic. The consumers need to get loud about it. Then, maybe, manufacturers will start finding new ways, or reverting back to other sources, like hemp and paper, for their packaging needs.

The real issues is irresponsible disposal of plastic waste, honestly irresponsible disposal of waste in general. The idea that you are just going to toss your garbage into the ocean to be carried, you know, wherever, is atrocious. Come on people.

Somebody smarter than me or a modern day college graduate or political professor needs to develop a chemical that reacts with salt water, and add the chemical to the plastic, and make it react when the container touches salt water, and the container is dissolved into sludge.

Defense of its impossibility in 4...3...2...

yes re consumers

walmart reduced a lot of packaging by showing wholesalers how to bring their prices down to walmart level.
so it can be done

I always think of my aunt florie who took her own bag or can to buy ground coffee at A&P. and used her shopping bags . there were things she had a new paper bag for but not much

i can't maneuver a large sized bottle. thinking about delivered water but I don't know. this water tastes good but I am told there are fertilizers in all the region farms now. I know the water is bad down the valley in Oregon.
I wish more edibles came in glass.

I rarely drink bottled water when the stuff coming out of the faucet is perfectly fine. Even then, there are in-line and other filters that can be employed to make most tab water drinkable.

If I wish to take water with me, I have insulated cups and coolers that will take my tap water along with ice and keep it cold. About the only time I drink bottled water is if there is no other option. As I drink a lot of water, there are some occasions when this is the case, but they are rare.
