Those who actually study this - like Shuttle CDR Mark Kelly have seen and understand the effects and why climate change is a national security issue.

Yet another liberal spewing that the climate is changing (as it has since the beginning of time) and trying to place the blame on mankind. How do these same people explain the ice age and then the melting of the ice? Were the mammoths driving SUV's and causing the temps to rise?

While the stripping of the forests in South America is damaging the ecosystem, and China's industrialization and pollution contaminates not only their air and water, but ours, this country CANNOT be the monetary guardian of the planet. Even though what CDR Kelly proposes is all good in theory, he isn't even close to being realistic.

It's a very partisan headline to say 'this year'. All the damage has not happened just 'this year', a lot of it started decades ago, but that doesn't follow well with painting the POTUS as the male version of Cruella.

Climate change has existed as long as this planet has. Human involvement is negligible. The damage from stripping the forests and ground pollution, is on the humans.

Sadly for the environmentalists, many of the world's nations have conspired to continue damaging Forests, oceans and endangered wildlife. Despite USA efforts to curb such abuses here at home, we cannot "lead from behind" with any effect. Whether it is environment or Geo-politics, that argument is proven.

As for Climate Change, sadly the climate has conspired to negate the prognostications of the Al Gore cult of pseudo scientist who still make the attempt to use it as a tool for creating a one world order. The Climate is changing, a sit always does, but things are now getting cooler.

Professor Gore, who avoided science in college to study mystic religions, says the getting colder is exactly what he predicted when he warned us of melting ice caps flooding Miami.

This after iguanas fell dead in the Florida snow.

But neither can this country afford to continue funding the world's 'bad habits'. When we can afford to make sure all our citizens have a place to go when it too cold or too hot, when those who have served out military have good medical care and a roof over their head, when the poorest have the basic necessities, we can start worrying about the rest of the world. Until other countries send us aid for the poor, help for our natural disasters, and their military to stand with us when needed, then is when we can stand united. Expecting the USoA to carry it all, because we always have, is not the path to continue traveling.

I don't mean to laugh at the demise of the critters, but I think a guffaw snuck out upon the visual of the Gieco Lizard in a snow suit...

I believe you and I agree here.
We borrow money from nations who are rich because they don't worry about pollution or saving the wild Tiger. We pay them interest on their profits as we take the blame and financial burdens for much of the world's ills. (After all, we consumed those products)

The USA is not the reason India is overpopulated, nor Bangladesh poverty or Africa losing it's wildlife. We didn't force China pollute their air so badly it ended up in California. All of these nations/continents are rich in resources yet lacking in civilized resolve to better their own houses.

I believe we should offer help but, it should not be required of us to do more than we can, after we clean up our own.
