Along with the health benefits and the animal welfare standpoint, advocates of a plant-based diet often tout the environmental pluses of ditching animal products. As studies show, livestock production has a long list of planetary burdens, from rampant land use to water depletion and pollution, and is a major contributor of global greenhouse gas emissions.
I've known for awhile ditching cows and pigs was good for the environment.

My cousin (second or third, I don't remember) is a newly minted vegan, and she promotes it from all different angles, this included.

While my beef and pork consumption is minimal, my chicken consumption is three or four times a week. Seafood or veggie for the rest of the nights. In her dialect of food consumption, I am a horrifying person, and she has said as much.

Man is a carnivore. I don't see that changing and century soon.

man may indeed be a carnivore. In the environment I was raised in, women, not so much. I remember us dining on a "mess" of greens or squash with bits of meat for flavoring but no main meat dish. I love baked egg plant but never fix it because my spouse is a meat eater.

No way no how...

I have to eat some meat everyday. Or so I think anyway.

Vegan's are skinny, pale and weak in my mind anyway.

The vegans I've met have all been extremely anal types so now I see veganism as just another way for super anal types to be even more anal.

This reminds me of a funny I saw awhile back:

How do you know that someone is vegan?

They will f*cking tell you!
Yup. So true!

I never was when I was a vegan, but I put on more weight when I decided to be a vegetarian.
After 11 years of that, I decided to go back to eating meat.
Nice experiment while it lasted.
Was rarely sick in those days either. lol

In dealing with my health issues, I've become very conscious of what I eat. If one is to go vegan, or vegetarian, it's not just a matter of eating non-meat, non-dairy products. If you want to get the full benefits of the fruits and vegetables, they really need to be organic, non-gmo, preservative free, and cool stored.

Removing any processed foods, you don't microwave, no plastic storage containers, only solid metal utensils and pots.

In other words, too much trouble to be an absolute, IMO.

Besides, I'd have to give up bacon, and that just ain't happening.

She typed them as super anal. Matbe they just think it's healthier. Maybe healthy types. You exaggerated going vegan. It simply means not consuming animal products. Not that hard to do and you don't have to be a "type". Besides that the thread is about the environment
