Default About Harvey

I lived right in the affected area for 13 years. I have seen storms that were bad. They say Oyster Creek never overflowed before but it has. In fact the three main rivers have overflowed at the same time trapping people in a triangle. Hurricanes have set off cyclones that shattered windows in high rises in Houston. Once a sheet of falling glass cut cars in two below.
Old timers told of worse storms.
So I don't know why the feds are helping earlier this time but I am thankful. I have my doubts global warming is causing this, but don't let that stop you from donating to the referenced number.

I heard a local interviewed who have lived there all his life. He told of the storms and the years they had struck, and the damage then..

So yes, this in nothing new a Gulf coastal area being hit by a Hurricane..

Trump did what no other President has done before. He declared a National emergency/disaster before the storm struck. This let Federal assets move before the storm hit. I don't know why he was the first to think of this.. Just a procedural move to allow Federal assistance to get there first ahead of the storm.

Regards, Kirk

And it was a good move on his part.

In the 80s people had issues (it specifically mentions sewers) for months afterward. Lake Jackson where Ron Paul is from used to have bad flooding combined with sewer problems till they finally redid the whole town. It's probably flooded some now but not like it would have been before that.
And many do not know that multiple gas and chemical pipes from multiple companies snake through the area within feet of shore. Some did burst one year I was there.
Although my house was at the other end of the county, I wouldn't live there again for anything.

My Houston cousins, to the best of my knowledge, have all made it to higher ground.

One cousin (actually cousin's son, but he's still a cousin) is running rescue trips with other people on borrowed sea-doos. People, animals, floating stuff, whatever the can.

Unfortunately, last known, my 93 year old Aunt's house is under water. I don't know about my other cousin's mini-ranch as of yet.

A request for blessings to all in that area.....

Hate? No.

Stupidity? Yes. Hurricane don't care about your economics.

Yes, it is 'hate'.

I should have kept some of the posts/comments/responses when the fires ripped through Gatlinburg TN. That the people there 'deserved it' because they voted for Trump, denied CC, and a whole bunch of other childish, juvenile 'hate' trash.

This is no different.

never heard any of that. most dip shLt commenters I have ever seen are paid trolls and rednecks. I have seen hateful comments from liberal supporters but very few and they were usually called out. rw'rs on the other hand pat their haters on the back with kuddos and hearts and atta boy comments.

Thats the difference. Policy wise I agree with far more Republican. I just can't take hater maddness and glorified ignorance.
