Well some got a nice view while others were lost in the cloud cover.. Like here in Kansas.
Here in Topeka we didn't even get much darker till the clouds got heavier. But in other location they got to enjoy this event.

The latest on the eclipse

• A total solar eclipse captivated millions of Americans on Monday.
• It was the first to cross the entire continental U.S. since 1918.
• The eclipse entered Oregon shortly after 10:15 p.m. PT and exited South Carolina at 2:50 p.m. ET.
• The moon’s path crossed the sun’s, casting a shadow on Earth for roughly two minutes.
• Viewers in the “path of totality” experienced a total solar eclipse.
• Others, like President Trump, viewed a partial one.
• The next total solar eclipse in the U.S. will be on April 8, 2024, and will be visible from Texas to Maine.

Lots of fun. Adults had as good a time, maybe more, than the kids. Used special glasses and pin holes in paper to view. Everyone was really fascinated by the pin hole effect under the trees. Discussed the reversal of images created by the pin hole as in a camera lens. Moon pies were tasty.

Glad to hear about those who enjoy the site of this Solar Eclipse today. The next one comes in 2024. From TX across and up to Maine.

Sadly some had a bad time, even though they had great weather. I wonder if she was using her smart phone?

(Reuters) - A woman was killed and two people were injured on Monday after a car crashed into a crowd watching the solar eclipse in Kentucky, local media reported.

In the incident in Leslie County, Kentucky, which appeared to be an accident, a driver lost control over her car and hit a utility pole, WLKY-TV in Louisville reported.

A 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in Hyden, Kentucky, the TV station reported. The car was driven by a 38-year-old woman.

The incident is under investigation by Kentucky State Police.

State police did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
