Exactly...

I'd rather have solar power than coal, but ONLY went it becomes efficient and cost effective...The idea of pushing it down people's throats because of activism advocacy and scare tactics is bullsh*t...

Every time the idea of alternative energy sources come up, I'm reminded of Ted Kennedy, who went around demanding everyone else switch while blocking wind turbines in his own back yard...

It's actually coal that's had incredibly favorable rules that made it inexpensive. Liability for damages by coal has always been extremely limited and in many cases no liability at all exists.

For example:

In February 2014 the Duke Energy’s power plant near Eden, North Carolina spilled about 39,000 tons of coal ash coating about 70 miles of the Dan River. About 5% of this highly toxic and radioactive coal ash was vacuumed from the river bed and Duke Energy was fined $102 million dollars.

The cost of removing 100% of the toxic coal ash from the Dan River could have easily topped $1 trillion because that would have been a Herculean task to accomplish without destroying the ecosystem of the Dan River. As it is the heavy metals that are highly toxic and the radioactive waste in coal ash has just settle to the bottom of the Dan River and will be there for hundreds of thousand so years always remaining a threat to wildlife and people.

The acid rain resulting from the burning of coal on the East Coast has destroyed forests, water resources and animal life and the coal companies have been excepted from financial liability for the damage caused.

The coal companies in the United States are responsible for the single largest emission of CO2 over the last 50 years in the world and they're not being held financially responsible for removing the CO2 they've polluted the atmosphere with. The cost of removing the CO2 they've pumped into the atmosphere in excess of what nature can recycle back into a solid state, that's resulting in global warming today, is astronomical. They made the bucks and the rest of mankind is left holding the bag.

If the coal industry had to financially mitigate the damages caused to the environment by the burning of coal the cost of electricity from coal would be a thousand times more than it is today.

Donald Trump is not now nor has he ever been interested in the facts about anything by his own admission.

BTW - By 2040 both coal and solar energy are going to be obsolete.

Compact Fusion Lockheed Martin

Having worked at the Skunk Works I'm absolutely confident that they will have a working fusion reactor within the next few years. Nuclear fusion is less expensive, more reliable, safer, and is less environmentally damaging than any other form of power production.

And now Trump wants to remove many regulations regarding coal extraction and the ground/water pollution this extraction causes.

Bull shlt. Mikkey.

The right sup[ports no so such thing.

What the right does not support are appeasement laws. Laws designed solely to appease one group or another. Usually voters.
