Default Scientists find 500 U.S. seabed vents of powerful greenhouse gas

Robert Ballard who with other found the wreck of the Titanic, has now discovered off the west coast of America 500 or so of the seeping methane sea floor vents.
This has not come up as much in discussions of Climate/Global Warming and is why I am posting it.
As this one event does release a lot of greenhouse methane gas, in that all over the ocean sea floor in many areas Science has found these seeping vents. As they have in many large lakes around the world.

I am sure some of the more knowledgeable will fill us in in a short while.. I shall step back (or try to anyway ) to avoid any conflicts as we are enlightened by those with much more information....

Could this be what happened to Mars?

Seriously I did read about this and it is scary

There is a possibility millions of years ago that these methane gases got into the atmosphere with such hing levels that a strong storm with lightening sparked a world wide explosion and the earth found itself nearly devoid of wildlife and about most any thing that would burn.

Some (few) Scientist believe this theory, yet most have another...

Termites of the world create more green house gas via Methane and Co2 than climate scientist can account for.
Tons more than coal plants and other man-made sources.
Not to mention the methane farts and fumes of livestock and wild animals are also a huge source of methane.

Then there's the fact of the gases from volcanos are also greenhouse gasses and one big eruption will wipe all the gains from the MOST optimistic cuts in human output. Cuts like reducing the population world wide by like half.

the vents on the sea floor are just another way nature is the real cause and driver of all climate change.

the climate on earth has "changed" and been FAR warmer and FAR colder without industrialization for a LONG time. So the current Hype over CO2 and other natural greenhouse gases is really completely uncalled for.

Pollutants like CO1 and other toxic chemicals are a real issue but not CO2 and natural gases ... greenhouse or otherwise. "Climate" is not something we can
control or influence at this point.

“The sulfur dioxide (SO2) emitted from the Holuhraun eruption has reached up to 60,000 tons per day and averaged close to 20,000 tons since it began,” notes Pall Stefanson, in a September 25 report for Iceland Review Online. “For comparison, all the SO2 pollution in Europe, from industries, energy production, traffic and house heating, etc., amounts to 14,000 tons per day.”

...
natural variables (volcanoes, ocean currents, solar activity, clouds, water vapor, etc. ) that dwarf the human impact on climate. Australian scientist Ian Plimer — geologist and volcano expert, professor of geology at the University of Adelaide, and professor emeritus of earth sciences at the University of Melbourne — is one of the many scientists who have tried to inject sensible consideration of the effect that volcanoes and earthquakes contribute to the production of atmospheric CO2....

...Our planet has about 1,000 volcanoes on land, such as Holuhraun and Bardarbunga, but most of our volcanoes are under the sea. “Some 85 per cent of volcanoes are unseen and unmeasured yet these heat the oceans and add monstrous amounts of CO2 to the oceans,” notes Dr. Plimer. “Why have these been ignored?,”....

...Plimer notes that the more than 10,000 earthquakes that occur each year release massive amounts of CO2 that has been sequestered in the various mineral formations.

Exclamation Re: Scientists find 500 U.S. seabed vents of powerful greenhouse gas

UPDATE:

Granny says, "Dat's right - purt soon won't be no air to breathe den we all gonna die...

WMO: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Highest in 800,000 Years
October 30, 2017 The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reports greenhouse gas emissions in Earth's atmosphere have reached the highest level ever in 800,000 years. The figure was made public at the launch in Geneva of the WMOs annual Greenhouse Gas Bulletin.
Quote:
The report was released in advance of next weeks U.N. climate change negotiations in Bonn, Germany. It is meant as a wake-up call to nations that time is running out to take the necessary actions to curb global warning. The WMO reports CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere surged at record-breaking speed last year to historic highs. The WMO says CO2 levels are now 145 percent higher than pre-industrial levels. It warns this has the potential to change the climate systems in unprecedented and disastrous ways. WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas says this is already occurring. He told VOA scientists have been able to track the variability of carbon dioxide concentrations thousands of years back.

A coal-fired plant is seen emitting carbon dioxide, in Juliette, Georgia

We have far exceeded this natural variability that took place in the past and we are giving extra energy for our planet. We have already started seeing a growing amount of natural disasters related to weather. And, for example, the economic losses related to these disasters, they have tripled since the 80s. So, that is a consequence of climate change, Taalas said. The report finds CO2 contributes more than 60 percent to the heating of the planet and that human activity and natural climate variability are behind the substantial increase in greenhouse gas concentrations.

Taalas warned temperature increases will reach dangerous levels by the end of the century without rapid cuts in CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions. He said measures to mitigate climate change must be urgently taken. Taalas said work on developing renewable energy systems and transportation systems, including electric and hybrid cars, must be accelerated. He added these low carbon technologies can play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering the Earths heat for future generations.
