Default White House looks to regulate cow flatulence as part of climate agenda

I always knew this administration was full of it.

Quote:
As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations.

This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990.

The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas.

Some of these methane emissions come from cow flatulence, exhaling and belching — other livestock animals release methane as well.

“Cows emit a massive amount of methane through belching, with a lesser amount through flatulence,” according to How Stuff Works. “Statistics vary regarding how much methane the average dairy cow expels. Some experts say 100 liters to 200 liters a day… while others say it’s up to 500 liters… a day. In any case, that’s a lot of methane, an amount comparable to the pollution produced by a car in a day.”

I know they have been doing this in Belgium for a while now, farmers are charged so much per head for hogs and cows. This is just another example of over reach for a non existent problem.

LMFAO wtf? Do the cows that fart too much get beaten or something? How the f*cking hell do you stop a cow from farting? And how does fining farmers help the ozone layer?

The a$$ clowns don't care about greenhouse gas, they only care about taxing it. Frikkin wastes of human flesh....

This is what happens when you elect an affirmative action president.

Our nation was oned covered with 40 to 80 million head of cattle known as Bison (Buffalo). These cud chewers put out as much, if not more, methane and CO2 as any cow. So how does replacing them with dairy and beef cattle effect the environment? About as much as it does the universe.

I am old enough to remember old men compaling about government taxes.

"some day the gubmit will figger' out how to tax air.' Of course it was a sarcastic and preposterous assumption no one believed possible. But, it appears, we were wrong!

They have found a way.

they should look more to the damage one cow does to the environment compared to smaller animals or organic vegetables.

Most "smaller animals" do not exhale methane the way cattle do. It is a byproduct of the digestive system in animals with two stomachs for the most part.

Pigs also digest feeds that produce methane.

Humans on veggie diets also produce it. If one were to connect the dots, we all may need a carbon tax stamp to eat broccoli or chili with beans.

Think of the constitutional arguments had the Founders included farting within the bill of rights.

the environment is more than the air. I said how cows damage the environment compared.

They ruin the land itself and pretty much any natural smallish waterway in their path. States that have a lot of cattle are foul smelling. Your nose is a warning signal in some instances. just fyi

I'm amazed at how naive you are. You completely missed the only point the left cares about, and it's not the farts. I'll let you guess what it is, and give you a hint...it's already been mentioned.
