Climate activists breach Buckingham Palace
Climate activists breach Buckingham Palace
Quote:
Four climate-change activists were arrested in London Saturday after they climbed the Buckingham Palace gates and chained themselves to railings, police said.
"At approximately 2:05 p.m. … four protesters -- three men and one woman -- climbed the center gate and south center gate at Buckingham Palace and secured themselves to the railings with chains," ITV News quoted a police spokesman as saying.
"Police attended and by around 6:35 p.m. all the protesters had been removed and arrested under the Serious Organized Crime and Police Act and for breaching Section 4 of the Royal Parks and Other Open Spaces Regulations 1997.
"They have been taken to various central London police stations where they remain in custody," the police spokesman said.
The protesters, who wore T-shirts reading "climate emergency. 10% annual emission cuts" and spoke through megaphones, said they represented the Climate Siren group, ITV said.
They unfurled a banner with a quote from Prince Charles that said: "The doomsday clock of climate change is ticking ever faster towards midnight. We are simply not reacting quickly enough."

One thing we "should" be able to agree on...Irrelevant of what side you come down on when it comes to climate change, only one side ends up breaking the law...
