I would not be against this topic being covered in school, as long as I am notified.

I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight

Us girls we are so magical
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable
Hard to resist so touchable
Too good to deny it
Ain't no big deal, it's innocent

So now I don't only have to worry about telling my daughter how boys will try to get in her pants, but also how girls might try to get in her pants. And let's not forget to introduce her to the concept of death while we're at it, Kids should come with a manual, I'm really starting to freak,
But if a girl gets in her pants she won't be impregnated by another trauma. At least thats a plus.

Yeah...

Just confusion about her sexuality and a higher rate of depression...

Good call...

Maybe if society gets used to it the depression rates will drop. I'm just throwing them up there.

What?!?!?!

dga's daughter is 11 years old, and you mentioned...and I quote...

"But if a girl gets in her pants she won't be impregnated by another trauma."

And you want society to "get used" to that?!?!?!?!...Girls getting into an 11 year old girl's pants?!?!?!?!?

I think you need to reread. I don't want anyone in her pants at 11. We were discussing what she is being exposed to as far as info. Not activity.
Geeeez I was talking about dealing with gayness

Well considering her original post begs the question "What's the right age to discuss?", the age is very relevant...

I took Mikeyy's comment as a joke, and a way of getting me to not freak out so much.

Not sure how you can be confused in your sexuality... unless you confusion is that you are gay and trying not to be. I'm sure you didn't need to kiss a boy to figure out that you were not gay, or vice versa (if you were gay). With being "different" comes the depression.

I steer my daughter away from hard core rap that denigrates women, she doesn't say any bad words, and I try to keep her as clean as possible. But this just goes to show that I can't keep her away from any of it, Just toughen up and tackle it I guess... I just wish I had more of a say as to when.

Right! This is the line

"What's the right age to discuss? "Discuss"

I don't know the answer to how one protects children from the bad things in pop culture. But given the number of lyrics that seem to glorify violence and illicit drugs, I would think lyrics about two girls kissing would be among the least of your worries about what she hears on the radio.
