Montebello High School in California

You will not see this heart-stopping photo on the front page of the NY Times, nor on the lead story of the major news networks.
The protestors at Montebello High School took the American flag off the school's flag pole and hung it upside down while putting up the Mexican flag over it. (*See pictures below*)









I predict this stunt will be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table in Washington... The image of the American flag subsumed to another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail.

Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federal government. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be 'redistributed' to the activists while you are so peacefully staying out of the 'fray'. Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held their core beliefs and values. One person CAN make a difference.

On Monday, March 27, 2006 at noontime, a group of students from neighboring school districts marched to Montebello High School (MHS). At that time, MHS was on lockdown and the students remained in their classrooms. The other students, from outside Montebello Unified School District, who were estimated to be 800-1000 strong, gathered outside the MHS campus. For a brief time, the school flag was lowered, replaced with a Mexican flag, and the American flag flown beneath, upside down. The California flag was subsequently stolen.
It is important to emphasize that this was not the act of any Montebello High School student nor any student who was enrolled in the Montebello Unified School District.

Pretty damn disgusting.
It's baffling how some come to this country, legally or illegally, and then hang their own "previous" country's flag up like this is "their" claimed territory.

If your country was so great, why leave?
Why not leave the U.S. to go there?

Regardless, the school official should have called the cops.
Actually not sure if that would have "helped" the situation, or made it worse, but this sort of lawlessness and disrespect for public property is just plain abhorrent.

This story has been out there for some time now but it's good to give it an encore! Most of the illegals do not come here to become "Americans".It's more about making money and yes,availing themselves of our services.This depresses wages and weakens an already thread bare safety net..

Let's put this in perspective, shall we?

A bunch of teenagers on their way to a rally stop at a rival high school and mess with the school flags?

I believe so. ;o) It seems as such.. and they are doing it illegally. If I was to deface the american flag like that, people would be fighting mad..... I am an American and I know that flag deserves respect.

What would happen to me if I did this in their country to their flag???

A bunch of kids act like a bunch of kids and people start freaking out. All of the sudden this story has some sort of major relevance on society as a whole. I think some folks are anxious to find a bigger story here.

I agree this is very wrong. The flag is our country's (and any country's) symbol and as such should be respected. That said, these are kids just trying to bring their point across, and not doing it in a very helpful way. It is though in response to society's rejection of them, their friends, their relatives, or whomever they happen to be supporting in this debate (on illegal immigrants) and all the negative rhetoric they are hearing.

The adults responsible should be held accountable. They should not have been allowed to continue with this disruptive behavior. The adults were either very stupid pro-immigrants, or very savvy anti-immigrant.
