Mexicans, nomatter how you interpret their reasons for coming to America(need work, join a gang, drugs), one thing is perfectly clear... They do NOT wasnt to assimilate...They want to come to America and treat the place as if it was Mexico... ![]() If you think people are pissed because they have to press "1" for English NOW, just wait until 20 years from now...when they'll have to press "2" for English... ![]()

Don't move the goalposts and add the government into it when the discussion was PURELY about the people insulting America by putting Mexico first in our own land...

I don't hear you complaining about all those Chinese people who barely speak English when you're ordering your pork fried rice, or the Indian women walking around in their traditional robes (with that strong smell of curry). Talk about double standards!!! |

We of a certain generation are all used to the pranks by teenagers such as running a pair of underwear up a flag pole. Or team colors. But we would have been shocked to have someone run a different country flag up a pole and desecrate or mock the American one. I don't think anyone would have been expelled, but maybe suspended and their parents would have been notified.
Otherwise it depends on the circumstances. But at a time when passions are at a peak due to unemployment, someone should and probably did (I hope) clue these kids and their moms/dads in that it was kinda stupid. And BTW, dga, I object very verbally every time I have to go into a convenience store where there is a musty smell. I've even told a few people, "Look, I know they may not have had a lot of water where you come from, but we do not use oil to clean ourselves and this smell is offensive." As for the language, the kids pick it up much easier than even well educated adults.

I think some people miss the point. These kids are doing what they feel is right and so doesn't the Mexican govt. There is more to this than some kids acting out. In their homes they get plenty to form these ideas. I think Spence hit the nail right on the head. And we haven't mentioned the crime wave brought on by a lot who feel this way. In 1919 this was the idea so what happened? ![]() |
