I am watching Ellen talking to Hillary on my Tivo right now, and she just said this. Barack, I believe the ball is now in your court.
================= Hillary Clinton talks rights for gay couples on Ellen DeGeneres show THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Friday, April 4th 2008, 11:11 AM WASHINGTON - Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told Ellen DeGeneres that she will work to ensure that same-sex couples such as the talk show host and her partner Portia de Rossi are treated fairly. "I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that people like you and Portia and others have a chance to have, you know, rights to be able to go to the hospital, to inherit property, to make sure that you can list somebody as a beneficiary on an insurance policy," Clinton said in an interview to air Monday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "That's all we want is to be fair," DeGeneres responded. "I like it. I like it." Clinton has said she would defend gay rights as president and eliminate disparities for same-sex couples in federal law, including immigration and tax policy. |

But just wanted to ask what Obama does say specifically? If you follow his campaign more closely than I have (any of the candidates) lately, you may have a glint of wisdom to share about why exactly you are voting for him. I think he gives a great speech [understatement] but then I'm left wondering where he does stand on anything besides the war and even that is a little vague for me.

He is in favor of giving all the rights of marriage to gay people, but reserving the actual word 'marriage' for the mating of men and women.
He is in favor of getting rid of DOMA so that the federal government has to give recognition to the gay couples in states that have legalized same sex unions. The thing is, DOMA keeps ANY recognition of gay unions banned by the federal government. So keeping DOMA is another bullshit way of getting around gay bans. Hillary wants to support "gay rights" but won't get rid of DOMA...which is essentially saying that you support civil rights for blacks, but are against legal integration of schools, businesses and public facilities. watch this: Last edited by tristanrobin; 04-08-2008 at 01:21 PM. |

When Iran announces they have completed enrichment procedures, I need my president to reject DOMA... ![]()

Is he in favor of changing the root cause of our present economy situation? The policies made the past 30+ years which helped the rich and big businesses while slamming the small business person and taking from the middle class? And what is his position on Political Appointees?

You have legitimate questions.
Perhaps you should start a new thread? My reply was a direct response to the thread topic. ![]() |

I'm kinda hoping for a president who could handle more than one thing at a time, myself. |
