Question 7-year-old suspended over stick-figure drawing

DENNIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. - A New Jersey second-grader's drawing of a stick figure shooting a gun has earned him a one-day school suspension.

Seven-year-old Kyle Walker's mom told an The Press newspaper of Atlantic City that her son was suspended for violating the district's zero-tolerance policy on guns. She said her son told her he'd drawn a water pistol.

Kyle gave the picture to another child on the school bus, and that child's parents complained about it to school officials.

The case is not the first in New Jersey in which students were suspended for depictions of weapons.

Four kindergarten boys were suspended in 2000 for playing cops and robbers, even though they were using their fingers as guns.

In the school's defense, it was a REALLLY bad drawing.

Those stupid people will realize their folly when there are no kids willing to be cops to protect them one day.

You saw how Bill Maher implored the security people to use force to eject the hecklers at his HBO show taping the other day?

This is the fundamental and underlying problem in today's society...

"that child's parents complained"...

What SHOULD'VE been done is this...

Quote:
Kyle gave the picture to another child on the school bus, and that child's parents called the school officials and asked them to contact Kyle's parents...They sat in a room with the children and asked Kyle what was meant by the image...When Kyle said it was a water pistol, the schools officals rolled their eyes and said "Case closed"
The parents of the child who received the image did NOT ask questions...they complained...

The school officials did NOT ask questions...they acted...

WTF ever happened to communication?...

Joke? Or was there supposed to be a link to the picture?

It's a shame people pay taxes for public school and then if they want their children to receive a decent education, fair discipline, and be around adults with a smidgen of common sense they have to pay for private school. :
