You can't be serious!...

If that were true, than ANY children's book would be allowed in schools based on your "kids don't know any better" logic...

Want your child to read "My Grandaddy Owned Leroy's Grandaddy"?...

How about "The Smelly Man From the Foreign Land"?...Or "Why Mommy Has Multiple Boyfriends"?...Think that should go on the library shelves?...After all, according to YOU "the children would not know that info, unless the adults told them that is what it meant"...

Those gay penguins sure do take a beating from conservative humans.

Central Park Zoo's gay penguins ignite debate

Media Matters - Dobson and Medved warned of purported pro-gay "subtext" in Happy Feet

Lucky for the penguins, their own race isn't so intolerant.

When I turn on Animal Planet and see a gay penguin tossed to a hungry walrus by a gang of straight penguins trying to protect their kids from being exposed to such things, only THEN will I start to consider that maybe there is something unnatural about homosexuality.

What do you think, does this book promote a gay agenda?
Does the book even say they are gay?

Secondhand Lions is a movie about two men (same gender! ) raising a child together.
Is that a gay agenda?

In the movie, the two men are established as relatives and not romantically "together".
Is that additional information necessary to establish the "absence" of a gay agenda?

Suppose the book was about a male and a female penguin who raise an egg together.
Would that be a "straight" agenda?

Quite frankly, pulling this book from the stands is more about an ANTI-gay agenda, fearing any interpretation of "gay" without adequate condemnation.

Suppose they made one of the penguins female, would that suddenly mean it's accessible to kids under 12?

And do you know if the book has ANY actual example or indication of gay romanticism, or sexual activity?
Or is it just the POSSIBILITY that it could be interpreted as such which means that it should be yanked?

It's funny how when Snow White kisses Prince Charming, it's still "kids being kids".
But if it was Sam White, suddenly it's an "agenda" and kids are not allowed to be kids anymore.

Things that make you go hmmmmm.....

I don't know about "such" things,I'm only the messenger..

Some Parents believe the book promotes a gay agenda so I opened it up for discussion...

Quite frankly, I'm appreciative you opened it up for discussion.

Without it being opened for discussion, such questions never get raised.
People repeat buzz-words and catch phrases without ever consciously questioning the validity of their claims.

They should question whether their "belief" comes from an intolerance towards anything that could be perceived as gay, or whether or not it comes from an actual issue objection.

Exactly...I think the "Gay Agenda" is pretty much the same as my own.

LEESBURG, Va. — A children's book about two male penguins that hatch a chick together has been pulled from school library shelves in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Parents complained that the book has a gay agenda and have called for its removal. But supporters say the book's removal is censorship.

The decision by Superintendent Edgar Hatrick is being criticized by many parents and gay rights advocates. They say the school system shouldn't have allowed one complaint to limit children's literary choices.

The 2005 book is called "And Tango Makes Three." It draws on the real-life story of Roy and Silo, two chinstrap penguins at the Central Park Zoo in New York.

A spokesman for the Loudoun schools said Hatrick thought the book's content might not be developmentally appropriate for some students.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I hate to be so blunt, but were the same sex Penguin couple "doing it" with each other or just parenting? Penquin parenting patterns have insured the survival of their species for thousands of years. It is called instinctual behavior. Males of that species should be role models for our own species, being able to take over keeping the egg warm (egg on top of the feet and nestled under a beer type belly flap). They keep their young warm after hatching in the same manner. The female does much of the hunting for food and bringing back food to the young.

If humans had to do the same thing for survival, we wouldn't survive. I can just see a Homer Simpson in front of TV watching football with his beer in hand and the future generation freezing on the ice.
