I agree...but it does give a good segway into why discrimination against gays is seen as acceptable. I'll touch on that more later.

Now whether or not you agree or disagree or whatever, molestation does NOT have anything to do with the conversation...

Anyone who thinks "The Scouts don't want gay leaders because they think they might molest children." is a moron...
Actually, that does say "just because we say so", just not in so many words so stuff your sarcasm and pull out your critical thinking cap.

There is no reference to any higher morality save that which the Boy Scouts determined to be fit for their club. So now, the question begs...where do they draw this "morally straight" standard that removes homosexuals from it?

Just because they are homosexuals. Nothing more. "Just because we say so".

Once again...I'm not pointing towards the deeper issues of what the scouts believe in...

I'm only pointing out what it does NOT...which is the issue at hand...molestation...

This topic is swaying...I'm having a hard time keeping up...

Okay then lets bring it back full circle. How can the city not deny breaks to an organization that clearly discriminates against a group on no other grounds than "because we say so"?

I am saying that if they believed molestation was an issue, they would have a better moral high ground to foster this discrimination than "just because we say so".

And I am not convinced that molestation fears are not the root cause of almost ALL homophobia. But that is for another thread.

So what does have to do with the conversation?

You appear to be arguing just to be arguing since most of the people currently posting agree with you that child molestation has nothing to do with the Scouts official policy.

Hmmm.
Well, my Christian religious sect does not consider being homosexual a bad thing.
Does this mean that I can be a Scout leader?
LOL
I have a feeling there is much more in that "Declaration of Religious Principles" than are included on this application.
LOL

After reading over that I am wondering if we are not all wrong. Maybe fear of molestation does have a lot to do with the Scouts' policies.

The summaries of the "Youth Protection Training programs" on page 7 of the application seem to indicate that they are all about teaching boys how to avoid being molested.

Why are they so single-minded?
