Tristan brought up a comparison in another thread that I would like to discuss further. But it was off topic there so I decided to make a thread about it here...I've seen racial comparisons used by him on several occasions. But I've never seen him try to justify them. So I'm posting his latest here so we can delve into this and stay on topic...

No it's not semantics. You are basing your opinion of a race on some statistic. But would you like for me to judge you by the AIDS statistics? Would you like me to judge you by the behaviour of gay people in "Gay Pride" parades? I'll await your response.

If you want to judge black people being prone to violence, can I judge white people prone to violence by Hitler and the Nazis? How about the American Indian genocide or the genocide perpetrated in Australia? Is that enough proof of a race of people irradicating another? Or are you still thinking that calling an entire race "violent" is justified by your "statistics".

And yes you should make a distinction between having to kill another animal to eat, from just killing and violence for no reason. That's not something that I am not familiar with being widespread in the animal kingdom. Especially that would justify linking that particular species to "black people".

A majority of black people are criminals? Really? A majority of all black people are criminals huh? I'd like to see where you get that from. Because on the surface, that looks like a "racist" statement...Let's check...

just for the record...

I never said that I believed in these things ... but, rather, that these kinds of comparisons are made by bigots about black people just as the insidious comparisons made by fxashun about gay people.

I just wanted to keep the record straight on why such posts were made, since it's obvious fxashun cannot be counted on to be honest about it.

Which is another reason so many people ignore him.

(edited to add - I see it's been about a week since the (serious) debates on gay marriage at DtT have been absent because of fxashun, with no posts at all. wonder how long it will take him to do it here...just questioning)

I was wondering why he didn't get what an "analogy" was and how a person can provide an analogy regarding a position that they don't support.
Then I remembered who I was talking about, realized he probably DID get the analogy, and was just trying to create a mountain out of a mole-hill.

I've come to the realization that while he will refuse to acknowledge the reality of what is being said, others can fully see it.
I often take the tactic of telling the rest of the message board that if they think he has a point, or would like to see his question answered, then ask and I will do so. Otherwise, there is no reason for me to beat a dead horse at his insistence, while others recognize the horse is long since dead...

Now I fail to see where any caveat can be applied to that statement. You clearly by your sentence structure indicate that even though you know not ALL black people are criminals, you think that "a majority" of black people are. I find it absolutely flabbergasting (I love that word) that you would sit there and pretend now that that statement was supposed to covered by your earlier caveat. You make it sound like statements like that are rare for you...Not.

Didn't you just say something about being honest? Why don't you take your own advice?
