No improvement over the current ineffectual means of verifying employee eligibility to work. Repeating the same hyperbole doesn't offer a constructive solution to the many problems of the current system. Calling an extra 13 million extra hours of nonproductive time a weak excuse is nonsense.

The old myth of E-Verify verification reducing the effect of jobs acting as a magnet for illegals is belied by at least one study cited in the linked article.

Quote:
E-Verify is supposed to help curb illegal immigration by turning off the jobs magnet. In the real world, E-Verify barely affects the wages of suspected illegal immigrants. In Arizona, the E-Verify mandate lowered the expected wage gain of immigration from Mexico from 253 percent to 241 percent – hardly diminishing the strength of the wage magnet.
We know that making it more difficult to enter and remain illegally plus an active program of deportation for people who have received their final deportation order will reduce the number of illegals applying for jobs without adding to the cost of hiring Americans.

U.S. immigration officials say raids at seven food processing plants arrested 680?!

YOu make it difficult for illegals to remain here by making sure they can't get jobs. You do that by severely punishing scum who hire illegals. If there is something wrong with the e-verify then it can be fixed. Making up bull **** illegal alien cock sucker excuses of how it's not employer's job to verify that the people working are who they say they are and are legal is just a pathetic excuse.

yep.

If the companies are forced to pay fines that hurt the bottom line you better believe they'll find a way to make sure that all their hires are citizens or legal workers. even if some U.S. citizens are assumed "illegal"

Some like to brag about how innovative Biz is, and how it solves problems,
But somehow want to make excuses for why they can't tell if people are u.S. citizens/legal workers or not.

As you said they make you Piss in cup for drugs, take pych test, make you get physicals, present SS#s, high school and college records, references, take various test, some even look up your facebook and social media accounts. And many somehow manage to check for criminal records if they think it's necessary.

But it's just TOO much trouble for these poor suffering companies make sure thier hires are citizens/legal.
The problem is it's to easy to hire illegals on the cheap and not have to pay any consequences. If they're raided they just hire more and keep rolling.

Even major Banks in the boarder states will knowingly give "illegals" bank accounts WITHOUT ID.
Banks are MAKING MONEY, plus if they are deported or run guess who keeps the cash?!

Here's the thing i've mentioned before and it shows up again here.
Capitalism is GREAT, but their is no motive BUT profit.
Patriotism is not a motive,
keeping boarders secure is not a biz motive,
being legal is not a motive,
MAKING MONEY is the ONLY motive.
There is no moral check, or National honor or concern built into Capitalism.

Capitalism HAS to be set UNDER personal and social moral and legal compasses or it can just become another form of tyranny and oppression.

Still no solution for how the employer is supposed to avoid hiring illegal aliens. Even if E-Verify is used it can only be used after the person is hired. The employer can only find out after the offense has been committed.

According to your hyperbole the employer ought to be fined or jailed for committing an offense they had no way to avoid. Slinging insults is no solution. We don't want the employer to be able to run an E-Verify check on anybody they want, identity theft is already a massive problem.

If the employer is going to be severely punished for unknowingly hiring illegal immigrants with no means of detecting them then they are going to hire John over Juan just for self preservation. Is that what you want?

Securing the border along with tracking and deporting visa overstays will go a long way towards solving the problem of illegal alien hiring without discouraging hiring as a potential criminal offense.

Of course it is the pursuit of profit that drives Capitalism. That is why we have laws in place based on our Constitution which was intended for a moral and just people to constrain immoral actors.

The tyranny and oppression is expecting employers to act as ICE agents especially when they have no means to verify a person's immigration status prior to hiring.

If a qualified black person with a Jamaican accent applies for the job along with a white person with no accent in an environment where employers are severely punished for hiring illegals, who is more likely to be hired? We both know the answer.

If they both have all the proper docs, then the employer is in the clear.
But if they are never requested or never checked?

But again we come back the morals vs money question don't we.
How much is it worth to be fair in hiring? How much is it worth to keep "illegals" out of the country?
Some people don't care much about fairness or the country... as long as they can make a dollar.

Maybe it's people in the federal gov't that should be in jail too though.

"IRS Admits It Encourages Illegals To Steal Social Security Numbers For Taxes"
https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertw.../#6b905e784c04

"...IRS Commissioner John Koskinen made the statement in response to a question from Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., during a session of the Senate Finance Committee about why the IRS appears to be collaborating with taxpayers who file tax returns using fraudulent information. Coats said that his staff had discovered the practice after looking into agency procedures.
"What we learned is that ... the IRS continues to process tax returns with false W-2 information and issue refunds as if they were routine tax returns, and say that's not really our job," Coats said. "We also learned the IRS ignores notifications from the Social Security Administration that a name does not match a Social Security number, and you use your own system to determine whether a number is valid.".... "

Every job i've had, other than cutting grass and for-hire construction work, i had to give a SS#. And what-do-you-know seems they have records of names and numbers, maybe the IRS doesn't care but employers should.
Seems to me that's just ONE level of legit "tyranny" the gov't use to hold employers accountable.
not to mention the IRS.
But I suspect many employers have the same mindset as the IRS.... "not my job man!"
