Comet, you constantly challenge posters to stop the nonsense of calling names because they happen to have a differing point of view.
Why then, would you call people who do not believe in gay marriage morons? There are hundreds of millions of people who think that way, are they all morons? If you wish not to be called a hypocrite then stop with the name calling of people who happen to think gay marriage is wrong. ![]()

I'd have said that the people who expected an ancient culture to recast itself to enshrine a set of practices it has always considered to be extremely vile, and to do so without objection cannot be terribly bright, or at least not to have paused to consider.
It's an aberration of modern thinking, that in social and cultural affairs novel ideas are expected to trump custom, religion and national character.

It has been long enough. The process is ready to evolve to the next phase, as many states in our country are now doing.

There is simply no niche in Western Civilization for gay "marriage." It is alien to almost all of the art, literature, religion, law, custom and language of those cultures except as an example of the most unacceptable, generally criminal behavior, and as an insult bordering on an act of violence. Meanwhile marriage is held up as one of the highest sacraments, secular and religious that the populations of those cultures share. This might well be grossly unfair, unkind, and insensitive, but it is a fact. And then along come some people who announce that for some reason, they know better, and have a self-proclaimed right to reinvent those cultures, and merge what has been seen as the most repugnant with the most sublime. Of course most people are going to balk! And, they are justified.
