Default Group Wants KKK Founder Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest on License Plate

Quote:
The Mississippi division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans had its first specialty license plate approved in 2002. The plate has remained the same for eight years, until this year when the group proposed five new designs to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
KKK Founder Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest on Mississippi License Plate? - ABC News

Forrest is the only individual they want to commemorate. All the other plates would be in remembrance of battles that took place in Mississippi or Confederate veterans as a whole.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) sent a letter to Barbour on Friday saying it would be immoral and unconstitutional to honor a KKK leader.

I was chuckling so when I read the headline...unbelievable.

Long live the south!

Sounds fine to me, so long as no one would see an issue with a license plate with a picture of Atlanta burning and "North: 1, South: 0"

One of those designs features Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest,
As is typical of the MSM, the headline is misleading. If one was to only read the headline, what impression would they get?
This story belongs in the media bias section.

Note: It also belongs here based upon subject matter.

At least the "War of Southern Aggression" is at a cease fire.

The ABC article, which is the first one linked to has in it's opening paragraph all the relevant information. The headline is attention-grabbing, but is it "misleading"? It's true but incomplete. However, you can only put so much in a headline and the idea is to grab attention.

You would have to read the entire article to know - and people should, but the article lays out both sides very well.

Does the term "neural linguistics" mean anything to you?
The headline is only partially true, it is a lie of omission.

So what do you think of the idea of General BF (Forest Gump was his name sake ) on display as a motto for a state?

And you are from where?
I would think it was a no brainier this is an asinine idea in a state where 40% of the voting population is descended from slaves. And that group was not allowed to vote in this country till Jessie Jackson ran for President (calling attention to still extant infringements). AND some living can still remember hangings and burnings.

There is a precedent for officially commemorating domestic terrorists in America.

Obviously, the license plate should be allowed in this light.

John Brown was/is an American hero. We fought against a terrorist group who wanted to rip the country apart to keep their antiquated way of life which included slavery. John Brown was an abolitionist. He strove to abolish slavery much like the Quakers who though not often as outspoken manned much of the underground railroad.
Now, honey, the differnce between a hero and a traitor is the hero hails from the side who WON.
'nuff said.
