No. The story refers to her epiphany.

I've got print on my wall that's from the same passage, but it's the moment after "Peace, be still."

I asked God to take away my habit. God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up. I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned. I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you. I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own! But I will prune you to make you fruitful. I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things. I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me. God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

I Am Thankful For...
* For the teenager who is not doing dishes but is watching TV, because that means he is at home and not on the streets. * For the taxes I pay, because it means that I am employed. * For the mess to clean after a party, because it means that I have been surrounded by friends. * For the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have enough to eat. * For my shadow that watches me work, because it means I am out in the sunshine. * For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing, because it means I have a home. * For all the complaining I hear about the government, because it means that we have freedom of speech. * For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking, and that I have been blessed with transportation. * For my huge heating bill, because it means I am warm. * For the lady behind me in my place of worship when she sings off key, because it means that I can hear. * For the pile of laundry and ironing, because it means I have clothes to wear. * For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard. * For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means that I am alive. and finally.... * For too much e-mail, because it means I have friends who are thinking of me. ![]()

Once upon a time...there was a man who was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man He had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might.
This the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, Satan decided to enter the picture placing thoughts into the man's mind such as : "You have been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn't budged. Why kill yourself over this? You are never going to move it." Thus giving the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man even more. "Why kill myself over this?" he thought. "I'll just put in my time, giving just the minimum of effort and that will be good enough." And that he planned to do until one day he decided to make it a matter of prayer and take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. "Lord", he said, "I have labored long and hard in your service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock a half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?" To this the Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when long ago I asked you to serve me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to me, your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back sinewed, and brown, your hands are callused from constant pressure, and your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. Yet you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. This you have done. I, my friend, will now move the rock."

Here is the link to a Bible blog I found interesting
![]() One Year Bible Blog excerpt: Quote:
What if everyone in our town of 400 is Christian- would we still not be able to display a nativity scene in a community center? What if not a single outsider stops in our town the whole year? Would we still be barred from displaying a cross at Easter? ![]()
