I would much rather accept the scriptures at face value and "not go beyond what is written" as we are instructed as such -- Rev. 22:18. As the Bible claims to be complete -- James 1:25, "The Perfect Law of Liberty". Peter claims that in it we have everything pertaining to "life and godliness" -- ll Peter1:3. Thus is there anything that is Godly, not to be found in the scriptures? No. Thus, inversely, things not found in the scriptures must be considered "ungodly" or coming from the conceptual ideologies of man. It has everything to make the "man of God COMPLETE" according to -- ll Tim 3:16-17.
Of course it is not wrong to speculate, but we must remember that speculation is just that....OPINION and not scriptural fact, and should never be taught as such. One of my favorite passages comes from the Old Book (our schoolmaster), "The secret things belong unto the Lord God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law." -- Deut. 29:29 BD
