You start where you want to and I shall follow. I have always like this book.
But have always studied it in the King James version. I'm looking for my other Bibles. And my Mathew Henry's Whole Bible Commentary.

And find it helpful to my life today. Mom had a reason to name me Michael, Danial. and dads last name.

And like you I do hope others join in with their insight or questions. Not that I can answer many except from my little bit of knowledge of the Bible and lifes experiences. But this could make a better understanding for many of us.

A free site. Scroll down past the "pay" bibles and there are many free ones. Also many major commentaries. You have to download a bible before you can download the commentaries.

Thank you salty, but I try not to download much from the WWW. I have about 26 Bibles from different periods if I got all the books from IN. to here. I'm still not all unpacked. But just got another book shelve so I am unpacking my books. Yet we have shared some on line Bible sites right? I can repost mine if you like. Or if you have any new ones post them. I took all you posted.
I never unpacked them as my wife made me sell about all I brought into the marriage to her friends who need this or that. lol That is a woman thingy I believe.

well, I have had many online sources and most come with adds and "strings". This one I found a long time ago-can't remember where just now. But I have had it on several computers. There isn't any advertising on it except there is a link if you want to look at the stuff you have to pay for.
It is simple to download and honestly, I wish I had tons of money to donate to this guy cause it is the best over all electronic bible I have ever come across. It will even download to a Windows 98, all the way through Vista.
But you know your own stuff, and I can appreciate that.

O.K. since the ball is in my court, let's read (or re-read) chapters one and two. We can pick up speed if need be later. But let's see how this works two chapters at a time for the present.

After reading those we may want to comment on something that strikes us as interesting or bring out a point. But starting with 1 and 2 will give any late commers a chance to catch up and give us a basis to build on. Agreed?

Quote:
Isa 2:2 And in the last days the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be prepared on the top of mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it.

The above verse is often compared to this in the New Testament:
Quote:
Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass, in the last days, (saith the Lord), I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy: and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
The "last days" often refers to the coming of the messiah in Isaiah's time. But some who read the passage can't help but see a connection to the return of the messiah.
Just my opinion-and I am no Bible scholar, just a reader/student of the word-
--there are two or three time periods going on in this prophet's vision.

He sees the coming of Christ - a happy joyous occasion for all God' people. And (my personal interpretation) , he simultaneously prophesies the return of the savior to earth.

I found this online and thought I'd throw it out to the readers here:

What might a contemporary prophet see as the spiritual condition of America? What advice do you think he might offer?

Quote:
Isa 3:4 And I will give children to be their princes, and the effeminate shall rule over them.
Isa 3:5 And the people shall rush one upon another, and every man against his neighbour: the child shall make a tumult against the ancient, and the base against the honourable. (DRB)

Isa 3:4 He will let children and babies become your rulers.
Isa 3:5 You will each be cruel to friends and neighbors. Young people will insult their elders; no one will show respect to those who deserve it. (CEV)
Does this passage sound hauntingly like today's America? Since we are children of the promise (and inheritors of this prophesy?), these words are spoken to us as well as the Israelites of old.
