Default Welcome and Info

Hi, everyone,
Some members have indicated an interest in a real Bible study forum, so here it is.

I am grateful to the administration for allowing room for this within a generally political discussion website.

Number one, we are not promoting any particular Christian faith. This section is for those already Christian or those who like to study philosophy and wish to include the Christian Bible in that pursuit. Or for the curious and respectful members of our forum who wish to learn more about the bible for whatever reason.

However there will be room for free debate by all general members in the "Apologetics" thread /threads. There you may challenge the existence of God, the life and/or ministry of Christ, the authorship of the Bible or any of its parts. If you wish to post a new thread such as this, please include the word "apologetics" in the title.

Just let me stress we welcome the curious, the atheist as well as the agnostic. I hope all participants will be respectful of all viewpoints. Especially I would ask respect from those pesky Christians who will be lurking around these threads.

In the study threads, please feel free to give your personal interpretation of what the passage means and post any commentaries from websites you would like to site. Also I will use two main sources: The King James Bible and Contemporary English Version. Both of these should be easy to find in book form. And allow me to introduce you (if you aren't familiar already) to a wonderful collection of EASILY down loadable bibles on line at: e-Sword - the Sword of the LORD with an electronic edge---This sight contains several free complete bibles and commentaries and some other bibles and commentaries that are are for sale. They ask that you consider a donation, but it is not necessary to download the free software.

The Bible study threads are not open for debate on the validity of the text. You may start your own thread to discuss theories regarding the authorship of a book or passage. Also any subject you wish to discuss that syncs with the main title Bible Study - Political Wrinklesof this section is acceptable.

Free discussion threads such as "How Does this passage pertain to my modern day life?"; "What is Armageddon?"; "What is a Church?"--are all welcome and are examples to spur your own creativity. Or you may use those exact titles if they apply.

A note about other texts: If you wish to discuss books not contained within the Protestant versions of the Bible, please help out the other members by posting the passages you wish to discuss or a link where it can be easily referenced. Thanks.
