I live in one of the most backwoods areas of the nation, and the local hospital/clinic will stock or order any drug legally prescribed. A prescription is an order to fill, refusing to fill a prescription as indicated by the physician can lead to criminal negligence in some cases.

I guess it depends on the state. In GA, that's not the case. They can refuse if they object.

There is one point that no one has addressed here...

How would the pharmacist even know that the prescription is NOT for a theraputic abortion? For all he/she knows, the woman on the other side of the counter might have a heart condition or other medical problem... Or maybe a 15 year old girl that was raped by her step-father...

Why is it reasonable to allow the Pharmacist to make decisions on situations that he does not know about?

Pharmacists can not prescribe. Case closed.

Those are very good points. No one has addressed them here.
I will say that there are people who oppose abortion of any kind and those people wouldn't need to know why the medication was prescribed.
In the case of heart problems, though, it is more likely whatever method of therapeutic abortion (surgery or medicine) is ordered , the doctor would want to oversee the procedure or treatment. So the woman probably wouldn't be going to a pharmacy for this.
If I was a pharmacist, I would not want to dispense this drug under any circumstances.

BTW Good to see you here!
