Artist Kills Herself After Aborting Twins

A British artist, expressing remorse and regret, hanged herself after aborting her twins when she was eight weeks pregnant, London's Sunday Telegraph reported.

"I should never have had an abortion," Emma Beck wrote in a note she left. "I see now I would have been a good mum."

The note continued: "I told everyone I didn't want to do it, even at the hospital. I was frightened, now it is to late. I died when my babies died. I want to be with my babies: they need me, no one else does."

Beck, 30, was found in her home on Feb. 1 and pronounced dead the following day, her 31st birthday.

She terminated the pregnancy after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend, who "reacted badly" to her pregnancy, the Telegraph reported.

I wish something could have been done for her.

In this thread linked here, there is a doctor who believed he was helping women by performing abortions because without people like him there'd be backroom procedures which were unsafe...

I think someone should send him this article and ask his opinion...

I remember that thread, and still agree with his position.

And I agree with you, it would be interesting to see what he would have to say about this.

Sounds like mental problems to me. Not that an abortion may be traumatic. But how many people want to kill themselves over someone they never met. Sounds like a depressed individual to me. But it makes a good anti abortion story.

How many women are not DISTRESSED before and after an abortion?

Strangely...the abortion was performed KNOWING the patient was distressed!
Nobody seemed concerned enough about this fact. The abortion proceeded
even though the patient clearly suffered from emotional issues..

WHY did the abortion proceed? it proceeded because they see this distress
on a daily basis and they have become so "detached" from the reality of the
situation.They justify the taking of human life and the distress associated and
simply chalk up the emotional distress as a routine reaction.

And denying an abortion, thus forcing her to carry to term, is a GOOD idea when someone is suffering emotional issues?

The reality is that her instability would have made the situation a problem in either case.

Who said anything about "forcing" the women to carry to term ? What they "could" have done is stop the procedure long enough to require at least "minimal" counseling before they would agree to proceed!


How do you know this to be factual? She "may" have changed her mind after as little as two counseling sessions! Because little effort was made to council a women who "clearly" needed it,three lives have been lost..

Bottom line here..there WAS time to "require" some counseling to determin the patients state of mind.
