This is only a female issue because females take birth control pills!
(Though I have heard there is a male pill in development.)

Can you honestly say you would have had the same reaction to a story about prices tripling for condoms distributed at college health centers?

Snap your damn legs shut and save 100% of the cost!...And don't cry because the "big, bad" companies that make pills that give you the ability to be a whore want more cash for it and the government doesn't come running to "help" you
Would you have chided young men to glue their zippers shut to save money?

Are men who use condoms whores, in the same way that you have just called women who use birth control pills whores?

Maybe your main point was about government subsidy, but your choice of words in getting to that point... I detected more than a hint of misogyny. I hope to be wrong about that.

People are going to have sex. It's what people do.
Trying to "educate" them not to is about as effective as trying to educate obese people not to eat, rather than to eat healthier.

We've all seen the failure of abstinence-only education.
Everywhere it has gone, higher teen pregnancy rates follow.

If in a few years my daughter comes to me and asks about birth control, or indicates she is thinking about becoming sexually active, or tells me she IS sexually active, I will not lecture and beat my Bible.

We will have a serious mother/daughter talk about responsibility, and one possible outcome of that talk will be my giving her permission to go on the pill.

In doing so, will I be giving her permission to be a slut? No. She is going to have sex whether she is on the pill or not, just like people do.

Instead, I will be acknowledging through my permission that she is a human being, and I will be helping her in becoming an educated, responsible one.

Because that's what parents are supposed to do, isn't it?
However you raise your kids is fine with me. Any kind of responsibility is to be applauded. And you sound like the kind of person who would pay for it instead of ask the government to. Why give these people credit they don't deserve? You found a way to take care of your family; why shouldn't the families of college kids, or the kids themselves, be expected to do the same?
We're not even talking about welfare mothers here, but people who have made a clear decision to seek a degree. I think they can handle 25 bucks without your and my help!

If you think everyone who has called people whores is jealous, you're mistaken. No one wants to be identified as something bad. Maybe on television sitcomms or among teenagers that might be the case.
I don't mind admiring beautiful women. I love beautiful things. It never bothered me to see another person do well or be happy.
I have met some women who were so ugly or thought they were, that they would go to bed with anyone. They hung out in bars frequented by illegal aliens hoping to get some horney homesick Mexican to take them home.

They were whores. They might have not been murderers, but they were whores.
There are people who are addicted to sex. Their addiction makes them into whores like whiskey addiction makes someone into what another person will label a drunk.
There are girls who go to college and drop their drawers for any d___ that stands at attention. People-average people, good, bad, holy or hypocrite will call them whores. They're not calling them murderers. They're calling a spade a spade.
That's not to say these girls' fates are written in stone. They can go through a crazy period of their lives and then get saved and not say shite if they have a mouthful. (I have a theory a lot of former bra-burners did that! LOL)Or become respectable citizens in a proffession or have a great relationship and kids. They can forgive themselves their indescrections and move on.
