You choose your own path. So do the college kids we're talking about. But I should not have to subsidize it.

Yet we would, more than likely, subsidize both the pregnancy and the baby that comes.

Either way....

And why is that? If they can afford college, and want to be promiscuous, why can't they or their boyfriend pay?
Just because we are paying for it (unwanted pregnancy) now doesn't make it right.
Take this argument out of the theoretical and know someone who really doesn't give a crap whether they hurt someone else by their behavior (the parents, the tax payer, themselves), and one tends to start feeling non altruistic.
There are good girls who get in bad situations, but that is life. They are going to have to deal with life sooner or later.
I don't want to pay for abortions, but i guess I do whenever a person on welfare has one. I really don't know to tell the truth.
I don't want to pay for a pregnancy that is not mine. But I'm sure I do. that doesn't mean I like it and wouldn't vote or otherwise fight to change that.
I don't want one dime to go to a woman who is sexually promiscuous. And there is no way to tell the unfortunate from the uncaring.
And I don't know if this is being done or not, but I think the girl and boyfriend should be counseled (I don't mind paying for that if need be), and possibly sanctioned in some way by the college if she becomes pg.
Maybe that will set an example that a students' first priority is education.
These people should be thankful they live in a place they can easily obtain that important tool.

Come to think of it, No I don't think I would want that expense either.
In the end prisoners and jail birds have to repay even their housing. I think that is air for these people too.

Maybe they won't be bailed out to the extent they end up in a heap like the inmates.

I actually agree with that. I just don't think the girls should be called whores in the discussion.

Why are we working under the assumption that she is promiscuous? She could very well be in a committed, stable, long-term relationship. She could very well not be in a relationship at all AND be on the pill for that "just in case" scenario while not really having sex at all with any frequency. I am not okay with this assumption that a student on the pill is automatically a slut or promiscuous.

Good news for you and me: The government does not subsidize abortion procedures. I would be foaming at the mouth if they did.

Sanctioned...for fulfilling a biological directive? Sanctioned because they had sex or because they had sex and got pregnant? Sanctioned because she is a woman and "should have known better" than to take part in all the reindeer games that boys go to college expecting? This is getting to be too much.

So I guess when a woman in the work force gets pregnant we should set an example that a secretary or a cop or a lawyer's first priority is their job? Get real.

I was on the pill for almost a decade. I was only a slut for about 5% of that.

I've never been on the pill and I am an avidly adventurous slut.
