What Jallman doesn't understand is that deep down you aren't upset that liberated women are having lots of sex. You're just pissed that lots of them weren't having it with you.
For the sake of argument, let's say you're correct...

That STILL doesn't address the argument that if I WAS having sex with these college women, the government should cut them a break on pills for nothing more than them wanting to also behave that way...

Bragg said “thousands” of Cal Poly students seek birth control from the university’s health services center. He said he didn’t have specific numbers, but he estimates a month’s supply of birth control pills now costs Cal Poly students about $25.
I guess it's all a matter of priorities, students are not going to stop having sex!
The $25.00 for the pills just makes good sense and it's a wise investment in their future.

And my guess would be 10% tops...and I think I'm going a little high with that percentage...
I don't really think it's any of my business what a young lady does or with whom she does it by the time she reaches college age. Is a long term relationship the ideal situation? Of course it is. Is hooking up a legal, morally neutral, private choice? Of course it is, too.

What I don't understand is why there is an outcry against women who have multiple partners or even just a one time fling on a spring break while men are pretty much clapped on the back and told "Good Job!!!" for doing the exact same thing or, many times, worse. I didn't hear anything from you on this birth control issue that sounded remotely like "Keep it in your pants, jackhole". No, what I heard was "slut slut slut".

That's just not right.

I don't think its all that new. I remember having a shirt in college that said "Porn Star" on it. I think I still have it, but rarely wear it as it seems awful silly for a 31 year old man to indulge such juvenile humor as a fashion statement. Further, I don't see it so much as a declaration of promiscuity as much as I see it a rebellion against the exact issues I brought to light above.

I am surprised, knowing your sharp wit, that you allowed the tongue in cheek humor to escape you on this one.

So I would assume, knowing our mutual respect for one another, that the phrase "Present company excluded, of course" applies.

Pills are overly expensive. They should be cheaper and sold over the counter. Whether or not the government should pay for them is debatable. But your tone and disdain for something that enables women to act like sluts is all about jealousy. You seem to be implying that without the pill women would be better behaved which is akin to saying they'd be more easily controlled. Either way it made you look like a dumba$$. Condoms break. The pill gives women more control and an added measure of safety. It allows them to be less afraid of having sex.
You apparently don't like that. You want sex to be more risky than it need be. Why?

Traditionally, universities provide general medical care to their students on campus for a much lower cost. Birth control, contrary to fundo-nazi belief, is not special care...its every day care for an active woman in control of her own life. I think that birth control accessibility is especially important for young women who are experiencing and learning to regulate this newfound freedom for the first time in their life.

Besides, most college campuses have health centers that give out free condoms. Why shouldn't pills be just as easily gotten?

Yeah well you only placate my views with an ounce of respect when I'm around to demand it.

You're a naughty condescending friend.

"Morally neutral"?...

If this story was about condoms, I'd feel the same way...

There's 2 lines of thinking going on in this thread, and I'm getting sucked into the one that wasn't the overall point...

A girl's behavior is one point, but that wasn't the focus...This is...

Quote:
Snap your damn legs shut and save 100% of the cost!...And don't cry because the "big, bad" companies that make pills that give you the ability to be a whore want more cash for it and the government doesn't come running to "help" you...
IP and tall...

You're focusing on the "whore" part when you shouldn't...Even if I said "responsible & intelligent", the same conclusion is reached (by me, at least)...

Government (my taxes) giving college women a break on pills
because of their sexual behavior(whethor or not you consider it "morally neutral" or not) is wrong IMO...
